Mathematical Science is the application of mathematics and statistics to understanding and solving problems faced in every field of science, arts and industry. Mathematical Science is ideal for students who love mathematics and statistics and want to see how they are applied in real-world settings.
For Fall and Spring semesters, faculty must submit semester grades five business days after the end of the examination period. For Winter and Summer sessions, faculty must submit semester grades three business days after the last class.
Submitting grades on time prevents delays students may experience related to transcript requests, degree verifications by employers, conferral of degrees and mailing of diplomas.
Note: If an MG (Missing Grade) or an I (Incomplete) is noted on a student's transcript, a degree will not be conferred. Please submit your grades according to the above guidelines.
If there are valid reasons not to assign a final grade, you may follow policy guidelines to assign a grade of "I" ( Incomplete) for the student, but under no circumstances should you leave the grade blank as an alternative to assigning an "Incomplete."
Beginning with January 1981, grade-point averages are computed on a student's academic work in all colleges at Binghamton University, including minus grades. Beginning with Fall 1983, Management transcripts reflect academic honors awarded (semester Dean's list).
The Graduate School at Binghamton University also offers programs in the Arts and Sciences, Management, Nursing, Education, Public and Community Affairs, and Engineering, Applied Science and Technology. Graduate work appears on a separate transcript.
To maintain satisfactory academic progress, students are required to earn a minimum GPA of 2.0 in all courses taken for credit.
Binghamton University, the State University of New York at Binghamton, has five undergraduate schools: Harpur College of Arts and Sciences (the liberal arts component); the School of Management; the Decker College of Nursing and Health Sciences; the Thomas J. Watson College of Engineering, Applied Science and Technology; and the College of Community and Public Affairs. The descriptions that follow explain the transcripts for each of these undergraduate schools and the information noted thereon.
NOTE: S/U grading is required for courses 591, 599, 698, and 699. S/U is used at the option of the instructor (not the student) in courses numbered 590, 592-598, and 600-697, S/U may not be used for courses numbered below 590.
In CCPA, satisfactory progress is defined as maintaining a grade-point average of 2.0 in all courses taken (whether or not in CCPA).
The grade-point average is calculated on a 4.0 scale.
This indicates that 100% of the semester grade (40% + 40% + 20%=100%) is represented.
Class grades are calculated based on weighted average of your quarterly grades and final grades.
The families correspond to the courses that can be registered together. For example, a particular lecture may have only certain activities that can be registered with it. Those activities would be identified as part of the course family.
General Education and Harpur Writing indicators ONLY appear on the credit-bearing part of a course.
Credit hours ONLY appear on the credit-bearing part of a course. It is not unusual for elements of a course to have 0 (zero) credits displaying on the schedule of classes. Looking at the CHEM 101 example above, the lecture will earn 4 credit hours while the related activity will have a 0 (zero) credit value.
I GOT OFF THE WAITLIST AND IN SO HAPPY MY FIRST CHOUCE LETS GOOO BEARCATS THANK YOU FOR ACCPETING ME -500 ENROLLMENT PAIN. BUT I DINT CARE I GOT IN
Hey all. Just wanted to warn you guys about signing a lease for any building managed by Komanage or Austin Wolf. You may have seen their frankly gross logo (that company knowingly leaves up videos with assault and children in them, I mean do a google search) around campus, but I guess that's another discussion.
Binghamton University’s new learning management system (LMS), Brightspace, will be used for all courses and organizations this fall. It’s flexible, cloud-based, mobile optimized and designed for collaboration.
I was originally pre med but I really struggled in those classes and realized it wasn't for me. Now I'm a junior and not sure where to take my career or if I can get anywhere without a grad program.
I’ve heard some of the funniest stories from CIW, people yelling at drunk people and serenading them at 3 AM to people throwing shit from one building to the other building from their windows. Safe to say I’m absolutely sold since I’m going to Cayuga.
Am I the only one bothered by this? It is by no means a huge deal just super annoying. When campus is packed and I’m stuck behind someone absolutely dragging ass.
i havent been on every single one but just out of the ones i have been on
Idek what to say lol, like I’ve got friends in my dorm and my roomate and I are best friends from back home but it still just feels off this semester. I was super social back in highschool but here I feel clueless, idk nothing sticks and everyone just does their own thing it’s super impersonal. I mean I get it it’s just rough though.
This is the official statement from the school as included in B-Line News:
Anyone know what was up w the crew-mates appearing all over campus in the snow? Its hysterical to imagine one person running around doing all that in a night but I want to know what happened.
