How to Adjust Blackboard Course Start and End Dates.
For the Original Course View calendar, you can turn the tool on and off in the Admin Panel > Tools and Utilities > Tools > search for the tool. The following narrated video provides a visual and auditory representation of some of the information included on this page.
In the Original Course View, instructors access the course calendar on the Control Panel > Course Tools > Course Calendar or from a customized link they add to the course menu. Students can access the course calendar from the course menu link or from the Tools page.
The course calendar displays due dates, the course schedule, office hours, and course-specific meetings and events. When instructors create content with a due date, it automatically shows in the calendar. All events instructors create within a specific course roll up into the global calendar.
If a user hides one of their courses, those due dates and course events won't appear on the global calendar. For the Original Course View calendar, you can turn the tool on and off in the Admin Panel > Tools and Utilities > Tools > search for the tool.
Scroll down to the “Set Course Duration” section. Just click on the calendar icon next to the end date — the example above is from an on-campus course that starts on Wednesday of the first week — and select your extended course end date.
View or edit course propertiesOn the Administrator Panel in the Courses section, select Courses.Search for a course. On the Courses page, open a course's menu and select Edit.Edit the course properties. You can't change the course ID.Select Submit.

The Course Management menu is located on the lower left menu bar on the Course Home Page. The course management menu provides instructors with tools to create, manage and modify the course. Files, Course Tools, Evaluation, Grade Center, Users and Groups, Customization, Packages and Utilities, and Help are available.
On your Courses page in Blackboard, click the three dots next to a course and choose Hide Course. If you would like to unhide your course, click the Filter menu and choose "Hidden from me." Click the three dots next to a course and choose "Show Course."
When an enrollment duration is set, any students who enroll in your course through the Thinkific checkout will automatically lose access to your course after the amount of days specified in your enrollment duration settings. You can set enrollment duration by number of days.
When you set time limits on course access, you can choose a specific date or time frame when the course expires. For example, if you choose a specific date such as December 31, 2020, then all enrolled students will lose access to the course at the end of the year regardless of when they purchased the course.
Products can be customized so that all students/clients are unenrolled on the same specified date. Or, if you prefer, products can be set to access for a specified duration over a rolling period (for example, 30 days). Once the time limit expires, students can repurchase the product if it is still available.
The option to change the course availability is no longer available. If you need to enable or disable access to your course site for all users, please use the "Start Date" and "End Date" boxes located in the "Set Course Duration" section below.
You will now see a screen labeled Properties. To change the course duration, go to the section labeled Set Course Duration:
The course calendar displays due dates, the course schedule, office hours, and course-specific meetings and events. When instructors create content with a due date, it automatically shows in the calendar. All events instructors create within a specific course roll up into the global calendar.
Institution events appear on all users' global calendars and in their activity streams. Select the plus sign on the global calendar and select Add Event. In the panel, expand the Add to Calendar menu and select Institution. Or, you can add an institution event from the Admin Panel > Tools and Utilities > Calendar.
Users can access all their course calendars from the base navigation . For your users, the global calendar displays events and dates from multiple courses in one location. All due dates and meetings instructors create in their courses appear automatically on the calendar.
You don't need to maintain the Ultra Course View calendar or manage settings. The tool is always on in the base navigation in the Ultra experience. You can't turn it off. Users can select the Calendar Settings icon in the upper-right corner to select the calendars they want to see.
Events students add appear on their personal calendars only. Instructors can also choose to add events to their personal calendars. The user is the only one who can view personal events. Users can add external calendar files to import multiple events at once.
On the Course Content page, open the menu on the right side above the content list. Select Batch Edit. On the Batch Edit page, all of your content appears just as it does on the Course Content page. Sort the list by item title, category, or visibility.
You can use Batch Edit to delete multiple pieces of course content at once. On the Batch Edit page, select the check box next to the items you want to update. You can choose individual content items or folders. At the bottom of the window next to Edit selection, choose Delete items in the Options menu.
Folders are a helpful way to organize and release related content in your course. Along with Batch Edit, folders can help ease the burden of content management . You can update folder visibility with Batch Edit, just as you can for individual content items. Be sure to make your edits for the content you're currently viewing.
You can use Batch Edit to update content due dates when you reuse, copy, or import content. If you taught courses in an earlier term or calendar year, Batch Edit lets you select multiple pieces of content and adjust due dates in fewer steps.
When the folder is hidden, students won't see any of the content. When you change the folder to Visible to students, the five documents are now visible, but the test remains hidden .
You can't shift due dates or visibility for manual grade columns with Batch Edit. You can't shift Blackboard Collaborate session start and end dates with Batch Edit. You can use Batch Edit to edit visibility for the session links that appear on the Course Content page.
With a new LMS comes change. Not just a new system to learn but some new standards as well. With all the changes involved in the university’s move from colleges to schools, we need to standardize ways of doing things across all academic programs. One of these changes is to standardize the automatic opening of courses.
What if that timing does not work for you? Let’s say you are putting some finishing touches on your course and don’t want students confused by the last-minute changes? We have you covered. Instructors have the option to override the course opening dates and availability of courses.
