Starting A Reserve List in Canvas
The Canvas Reading List tool lets instructors uploaded files and internet resources all within their Canvas course. Instructors can add other instructors and/or library staff as collaborators to help build and manage the list. To add resources from the library catalog, or upload files: Click Add Items +, a search box will appear to the right.

The Yale University Library has significantly expanded its reserves service with a new reserves management system that is fully integrated with Canvas *. This page provides step-by-step instructions for submitting course reserve requests through Canvas.
Items can be added individually to a reserve list in Canvas. This can be done even after items have been imported from a previous class.
Reusing items from a previous class can save significant time in both data entry and reserves processing. This is also known as "cloning."
Courses added manually in Canvas are not linked back to SIS data and are not affected by SIS imports. To link a manually created course with an SIS ID, edit the details for a course section. Courses can also be added through SIS Imports.
You can manually add courses in your account in the Courses page. Watch a video about courses. If a course template has been selected in your account, content from the selected course will be copied into your new course. Course copies may not include all content. You can also send messages to the user via Conversations. If necessary, you may be able to edit a user's role in Canvas. Note: It could take up to 24 hours for users to receive their invitations.

Enrollments may be added by your institution's student information system (SIS). If an enrollment includes an SIS ID, you cannot add an enrollment to the course. Adding users through the Add People button is a course permission. If you cannot add a user to your course, your institution has restricted this feature.
In Canvas accounts, admins can allow Open Registration, which allows you to add users to a course even if the users do not yet have a Canvas account. The user will create an account as part of accepting the course invitation. However, if Open Registration is not enabled, you can only add users to your course who already have an account in Canvas.
If Canvas finds an existing user , you can confirm the user before adding the user to the course [1]. The user's name displays in the page along with the user's information you used in the user search. Although Canvas may display additional search columns, existing information in a user's account will not be displayed.
