After you purchase your self-paced course, you will receive an email with a link to a registration form. On that form, you will indicate the student's information who will be taking the course, as well as your desired start date. The twelve-month access must be started within a year of your purchase date.
The course is available to the student for twelve months from start date, which is chosen at enrollment. If needed, monthly extensions can be arranged with our office for a fee.
A typical day when doing a Self-Paced Course includes logging onto your VPSA student page, launching the lesson and watching the course. At the end of the lesson, the homework will be displayed on the second to last screen. All assigned homework will be assumed to be completed for the next lesson. Self-Paced Online (SPO) classes are entirely online courses that allow students to set their schedule and deadlines as they move through the content at their own pace. Students log into Canvas to view their course syllabus and instructions on how to complete lessons, assignments, and exams.

Omnibus is a high-caliber academic curriculum for a Christian classical education for junior and senior high. This series of six humanities courses primarily covers history, theology, and literature, but it also touches on many other subject areas.
Self-paced courses do not follow a set schedule. Course materials do not become available according to a schedule, but are completely available as soon as the course begins. Assignments and exams do not have start or due dates. The course shows indicators for graded assignments, but not due dates.

There is no planning or teaching time on the part of the parent. (Yay!) The student logs in to the class each day and watches, participates, and learns. The student learns through videos, games, scenes that are acted out, songs, activities, map skills, tests, and more.
Something I personally loved about the self-paced classes was the flexibility they gave us! My son homeschooled year round so that we could take days off whenever we wanted or needed to do so. You may choose to homeschool during the traditional school year and take the entire summer off.
As I have mentioned, I have a special needs daughter. I have my daughter’s helper, Chris, work the classes with her. Chris assists Hannah with many of the activities in the classes (like the review games), but for the most part Hannah is able to move on with no assistance.

One of the additional resources you may want to use is a set of flashcards. In fact, I highly suggest that you buy and use the flashcards. I used them with my children to introduce the lesson each week and give them a basic understanding of what they would be learning that week. The flashcards also helped them answer the worksheet questions.
I suggest that you either plan to watch the classes on certain days each week or that you set a number of classes to watch each week just to be sure you don’t fall behind.
