For now, the best way to do this is by navigating to the City page for the area you are searching (Home menu/My City). Once on the city page there is a tab on the map that can be changed from routes to Courses. There is also a list of popular courses at the bottom of the page.
In order to manually create a run, you’ll first need to access the site via the browser on your computer. Although you’re able to use your phone to track runs, there isn’t a way to create routes or determine mileage ahead of time from a mobile device. If you don’t already have a MapMyRun account, create one now.

One of the simplest ways to plan a quick running circuit of your own is to enter your starting point and destination on Google Maps. Once you have that beginning and end point on your Google Map, you can then use your mouse to drag the route around to make it more or less direct as a running route.
To do that on an iPhone, tap More at the bottom of the screen, tap Route, tap the plus (+) button, and then take the necessary steps to create your first destination. Once you've done that tap Add to Route at the top of the screen.

Plan a Running Route with Google Maps The good thing is that planning your own running or cycling route with Google Maps is quite easy. The fastest way is the internal route planner of the app. Here you can enter the start and end point of your running route.

If you want to make a regular loop, keep connecting the dots until you end up back at your starting point. If you’re instead running to a specific point — then back along the same route — simply click the Out and Back button once you reach your destination. The map automatically calculates the added distance and as you navigate, you’ll see your distance appearing in this same box.
As an alternative, you can forgo pre-mapping routes and simply have the mobile app track you as you run. When you do this, the path you take automatically saves as a new route. Strava: routes, segments and activities. You can import any segment or public route by its URL. You can import your own activity directly by its URL. For other rider's public activities, use the Actions - Create Route option at Strava, then use the resulting route URL. Your starred routes are automatically imported.
