Phase 2: Seats become available on a first-come, first-serve basis for all students during Phase II, depending on space availability and according to particular enrollment restrictions . Students on the waitlist will be enrolled automatically by the CalCentral system unless one of the following criteria restricts you:
Enrollment is finalized by Friday of the third week of instruction (sometimes sooner), with the exception of two courses: Psych W1 (finalized the end of the first week) and Psych 101 (finalized the end of the second week). If students remain on the wait list by the fourth week of instruction, the chance of enrollment is minimal.
Enrollment is restricted to declared psychology majors during Phase I. Students who are not declared Psychology majors have the option to add to the wait list during Phase I. Enrollment is open to all students during Phase II, on a first-come, first-served basis. A wait list will also be available.
The Psychology Student Services Office will not entertain any discussion section switch requests from students without extenuating circumstances as the CalCentral system allows enrolled students to switch discussion sections. If the desired discussion section is full, CalCentral will place the student at the top of the lecture waitlist, and the student will be enrolled once a spot in that section opens up. In cases where a student is on the waitlist, the student must first drop from the waitlist in order to switch their section. Alternatively, students that are unable to switch discussion sections on their own through CalCentral because the desired section is full can reach out to the instructor and/or GSI to request being switched. In this case, the student will need to be paired with another student. These switches will take place during the 3rd week of instruction. Students unable to switch on their own through CalCentral or find a fellow students to pair with will not be able to change their discussion section. In this event, if the conflict remains, the student will need to drop the class.
