Rutgers University-New Brunswick Summer Session offers more than 2,400 undergraduate and graduate courses in over 250 fields. Convenient schedules are available in the morning, afternoon and evening. Courses can be taken on the New Brunswick campus, online, or at an off-campus location throughout the state.
two coursesStudents may not be registered for more than two courses in a single summer session or overlapping sessions. This includes total courses taken at Rutgers and elsewhere. Students may not be registered for more than 12 credits in the summer, distributed as above.
Summer courses at Newark/Camden must be pre-approved by a Dean. For courses taken at any Rutgers campus, the grade and credit will appear on the transcript and in the GPA.
There are three major sessions during the Summer Session. To view the exact dates of a course, please visit the Schedule of Classes. Classes will not meet on June 17th, in observance of Juneteenth, and July 4th, in observance of the Fourth of July holiday. Session 2 overlaps Sessions 1 and 3.
Current Rutgers Students may register for Summer Session through WebReg. Visiting students must fill out a Registration Inquiry Form. An RUID and Personal Access Code (PAC) will be emailed within 3 business days with further instructions on how to register.
Do you get financial aid for summer classes? Yes, you may be able to get summer financial aid for your classes. For the most part, federal financial aid and student loans work the same during summer sessions as they do during the regular school year.Jan 25, 2022

You are permitted to take up to 14 credits during the Summer Session and up to 7 credits* during the Winter Session. To request an academic credit overload (permission to take more credits in the winter/summer sessions), you must seek permission from the appropriate administrator or department.
Rutgers University-Newark is allowing you to choose a Pass/No-credit grade on your transcript instead of a letter grade (A-F) for any RU-N course that you are taking course in Summer 2021.Jun 1, 2021
In general, when a course is repeated in which the student previously earned a grade of F or D, both the original grade and the new grade remain on the transcript and in the cumulative grade-point average.
How will P/NC grades impact my GPA? Courses with a P/NC grade are not calculated as part of your GPA. In other words, P/NC grades will not raise or lower your term or cumulative GPA.
