(LOS ANGELES) (AUGUST 21, 2018) The Chicago School of Professional Psychology (TCSPP) is pleased to announce that the Los Angeles Campus Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program (Clinical Psy. D.) has been granted accreditation by the American Psychological Association (APA).
Its name later changed to the American Schools of Professional Psychology. The Education Management Corporation (EDMC) then acquired the School for joining Argosy University in 2001. Argosy is an accredited system of private for-profit institutions spanning 28 locations across the United States.
Calculating GPA Note that College students who take a course at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business may receive an A+ grade according to the Chicago Booth grade system, but will receive 4.0 grade points in the College grade system for that Chicago Booth course.

The Chicago School of Professional Psychology operates on a semester system. There are three semesters per academic year: fall, spring, and summer. The fall semester consists of 15 weeks; the spring semester is 16 weeks (inclusive of spring break week), and the summer semester is nine weeks.
Students are expected to be punctual to all classes and practicum. Students in Online-Blended courses are expected to post online per each course’s requirements. Absences should occur only for such extenuating circumstances such as ill health or critical emergency. Whenever possible, students should notify the faculty of these absences in advance.
Students currently enrolled at The Chicago School who wish to be considered for admission into another program must complete the standard application process.
Students who wish to transfer to a new campus, but remain in their current program* must first discuss their intention to transfer with the department chair of their current campus. They must also seek approval to transfer from the department chair of the new campus prior to registration.
Students wishing to transfer into a new specialization or track within their program may petition to do so without applying for readmission. Students considering this transfer must first talk with their current department chair and then the chair for the specialization or track they wish to enter.
Students who wish to take a course through another department must seek approval from the department chairs of both programs prior to registration. If the student would like the credits to be used toward fulfilling a degree requirement, the student must also submit a Petition for Transfer/Waiver of Credit Form.
If students find it necessary to interrupt progress toward their degrees for more than one term, a leave of absence may be granted for acceptable reasons. A leave of absence may only be granted at the beginning or the end of a semester/term.

The number of schools offering a Psy.D. seems to be growing all the time, but The Chicago School was one of the early adopters of a robust education in clinical psychology, which makes it an appealing option for students who seek a proven track record of success before investing in a degree.
The Psy.D. Clinical Psychology program is a 106 credit program that includes four years of intensive course work, and three years of required practica focused on both clinical assessment and clinical intervention. The program also requires a dissertation and a year of clinical internship.
The Chicago School of Professional Psychology (TCSPP) expects that all students demonstrate the highest form of academic integrity. This applies to all of their graduate work and studies ranging from course work, to general scholarship, to interactions with faculty, staff, and students.
The internship experience consists of a minimum of 2,000 hours of training over 12-24 months (full or part time, respectively).
Self-reflection, introspection, and an ability to examine personal reactions to clinical material are considered critical skills in student development. Students will be required to examine their personal reactions and the impact of their personal histories on the clinical services they are training to provide.
