SACM Online Course Guidelines
For most online students, 1-2 classes with an intense workload is the most they can manage. Most online students have other responsibilities, usually family and/or employment. The more classes a student takes, the more important time management is.
The length of online classes varies. Some can be completed in as little as five weeks, while others take longer. On average, online courses last eight to nine weeks, especially those offered through universities.
A “fully online” course is any class that's offered in a completely online environment, no in person or on campus meetings. Many courses are offered in an asynchronous learning mode, meaning no scheduled meeting or exam times.
For one session, a student should expect to spend six hours a week on course work for every course credit. In other words, if a student is signed up for two or three courses during a session and each course is worth three credits, that student should plan to spend between 36 to 54 hours a week on course work.

How do I change my major with SACM? Complete a Letter Request, Check the box “Major Change Letter for your Sponsor”. Upload a current degree plan and a degree plan for your requested major. You must get these degree plans from an advisor in each department.
Sponsored students are required to understand and comply with their sponsor’s rules, requirements, and procedures. Furthermore, sponsored students must understand their financial, academic, and additional responsibilities at Boise State. These responsibilities are outlined below.
As a sponsored student, Boise State must have a valid financial guarantee/support letter on file at all times. If a valid financial guarantee/support letter is on file, Boise State will bill your sponsor each semester automatically.
Each sponsored student is responsible for knowing their sponsor’s rules regarding academic standing, including GPA requirements.
Boise State cannot release any information to your sponsor without your written permission. Signing this form allows ISS to better serve you and your sponsor. You can grant Boise State permission to communicate information to your sponsor by signing a Release of Information Form with ISS. You can get this form at the ISS front desk.
If SACM is requesting a letter with unit information, you must send a screenshot of the email request from SACM to your International Student Advisor.
The Office of Global Education will email your transcripts to your student email approximately 1-2 weeks after final grades are available on MyCSUSM.
SACM sponsored student are not allowed to change their major unless they have prior approval from SACM.
If your request is approved, SACM will issue a separate financial guarantee for the online/hybrid course (s). Please submit the online course financial guarantee to the Office of Global Education before the start date of the online course.
Students have two options for completing the SACM Progress Evaluation.
If you are requesting a change of major from SACM, you will need two copies. They must be turned in together. On the first form: Complete Step 1. Under Step 2, complete A. Student’s Declared Program of Study (Major) with information about your current major. On the second form: Complete Step 1.
Students are responsible for submitting the form directly to SACM.
Students are responsible for ensuring the form is completed and submitted to SACM on time.
