i just went through vim’s tutorial which suggested it should take 25-30 mins (“The approximate time required to complete the tutor is 25-30 minutes, depending upon how much time is spent with experimentation.”), i think i spent about 90 mins on it if it instead said 3 hours i wouldn’t try as hard to improve, i very much prefer that the bar is set high to give me something to aspire to

With previous experience in Javascript, HTML, CSS, PHP and Python (among others, I’ve used Java for a while and I’m somewhat fluent in Swift now) I’ve finished all those courses in about 15 hours total. JQuery was new to me and I absolutely loved that course. I finished it in about 4 hours.

As a beginner, you should learn Python 3. Python 2 will no longer be maintained past 2020. Python 3 is the future of the language, it is newer, faster and better than the previous one. There's no point in learning an older version unless you want to maintain some really old code.

I see so many posts on this sub from people who say they find programming boring, are bad at math and problem solving, only thing they did on their computer is check the weather and are completely parallel with anything close to programming and are only interested want in it for the money or something.
Sometimes a hunger for knowledge and an unwillingness to give up is more important than your current coding skills.
I wanted to share that a pandemic and lots of MOOCs later I tested myself and am pretty proud of the results.
When it takes you hours just to get started, dealing with errors, downloading/redownloaing, stuff not working on your machine. Total pain in the ass.
