Once a course has been started: ServSafe Food Handler courses must be completed in 60 days. ServSafe Manager and ServSafe Alcohol courses must be completed in 90 days. After a course has expired, a student will not be able to access that course. A new one will need to be purchased.
The National Restaurant Association recognizes the ServSafe Manager Certification for five years. ServSafe Allergen, Alcohol and Food Handler Certifications are recognized for three years. State, local or employer requirements may vary so it is a good idea to check with these organizations about how frequently you need to renew your certifications.
The ServSafe Food Production Manager Certification will continue to be recognized by the National Restaurant Association for a period of 5 years after attainment. However, it is worth noting that some of the other ServSafe Certifications will only last for a period of 3 years, but the Manager Certification will last 5.

The ServSafe food manager is the highest (out of 4) certifications. Basically, it’s this person’s duty to monitor the safety of the food in a foodservice operation. And to instruct other employees on how to do the same. This is usually in addition to other regular duties.
Currently the 7th Edition in late 2019. Of course, you could buy one from the ServSafe website but you don’t have to. Maybe your local public library has one. Check the college, vo-tech and university libraries too, especially if they have a culinary program. Or ask around, maybe a coworker has one.
