The School of Business and Technology at Capella University offers an online doctor of business administration (DBA) program with three specializations: general management, organizational leadership and development, and strategy and innovation. Included in the program are a capstone and two 4-day residencies. The DBA may be earned in about 2.5 years taking two courses per quarter.

Online courses may include readings, case studies, simulations, group projects, group discussions, and other learning modalities. Courses are mostly asynchronous with some synchronous activities required. All assignments are due on Sundays and are accompanied by a comprehensive scoring guide. Student assessment is outcomes-based.
Core courses include your DBA journey; effective organizational leadership; addressing problems in human resources and compliance; strategic decision-making; teaching business and higher education; survey of research methods; quantitative design and Analysis; and qualitative design and analysis.
The DBA program can be completed in about 2.5 years by taking two courses in most quarters. At the pace of one course per quarter, the degree can be completed in about 4.5 years. Most students take one to two courses per quarter. Students have up to seven years to complete a doctoral degree at Capella.
Bachelor’s degree students will pay between $336 and $411 per credit hour, while master’s degree students pay between $425 and $796 per credit. Doctoral students will pay up to $790 per credit, and certificate students pay at least $410 per credit. The university also offers FlexPath Option programs that charge students a set rate at the beginning of each 12-week session. Military students qualify for a 10% tuition discount on certificate and advanced programs and a 15% tuition discount on all bachelor’s degree programs.
