Spring 2022 Young Harris Early College Online Courses Courses offered online in the Young Harris College learning management system (Moodle). These courses are 8-weeks long in two sessions per semester (Session A and Session B). The classes cover the course content of an entire semester-long course in an accelerated rate.
Apr 10, 2022 · Students who transfer to the College with 30-59 credit hours or more must fulfill the following requirements. Each transfer student of this type must successfully complete two W and two S courses in order to earn a baccalaureate degree. At least two of these courses must be a 3000/4000-level course.

Continued enrollment in Young Harris College is a privilege that is granted to a student who is making satisfactory academic progress toward a degree. A degree-seeking student enrolled at the College is in good academic standing unless placed on academic probation or suspension.
Only subject examinations in courses offered at Young Harris College are evaluated. Scores of fifty (50) or higher on the CLEP examination will be considered for credit.
To be a full-time student, one must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 semester hours of academic credit. Students living in a college residence hall may not be enrolled in fewer than 12 semester hours unless granted permission from the Vice President of Student Development and the Registrar. All Georgia residents must be enrolled in at least 12 hours to qualify for the Tuition Equalization Grant and a minimum of 6 hours for the H.O.P.E. Scholarship. The maximum academic load in a regular semester is 21 hours. The maximum academic load in a summer or other eight-week term is 7 hours.
Students are given the designation of freshmen until they have earned 30 hours of academic credit. Students are designated as sophomores when they have earned 30-59 semester hours of academic credit. Students are given the designation of juniors when they have earned 60-89 hours of academic credit. Students are designated as seniors when they have earned 90 or more semester hours of academic credit.
Degree-seeking students are placed on probation when their academic performance falls to a level that endangers their progress toward completing a degree from the College. Each student’s academic performance must meet certain minimum requirements for the student to remain enrolled at YHC. Students must maintain a 2.00 cumulative GPA, regardless of credit hours attempted, in order to remain in good academic standing.
Physically Active Lifestyle Course (PALS) For a Physically Active Lifestyle Course, one semester-hour credit is awarded for three 50-minutes periods per week, for half a semester, with the expectation that each in-class hour of college work should require 30-45 minutes of exercise, preparation, or other outside work.
A minimum grade of 5 is required. Students will be notified in writing if academic credit is awarded.

If a student is not a resident of Georgia and is taking a course or program leading to professional licensure, Young Harris College cannot guarantee the course or program leads to professional licensure in the student’s home state.
The goal of the Young Harris College core curriculum is to enable each student, through rigorous study in the liberal arts, to do the following. Please see the notes that follow the categories and credit-hour requirements for important information about course options and course credit.
In order to change a major, a student must complete a “Major/Minor Change” form and submit it to the Registrar. The form may be obtained from the Registrar’s Office, the Advising Center, or on YHC Connect. The major will not be formally changed until the form is processed by the Registrar’s Office.
Students complete two courses that challenge them to develop their skills and knowledge in the natural sciences. At least one course must include a lab component and challenge students to apply their skills and knowledge in laboratory and experimental settings.
Course Options- To encourage students to take courses in a variety of disciplines while still allowing choice in selecting the courses used to fulfill core requirements , students may take no more than one course in a given discipline to complete core requirements. A discipline is defined as a distinct body of academic study, regardless of departmental designation. (For example, Religious Studies is a separate discipline from Philosophy.) The one course per discipline includes the following exceptions.

The College will award credit hours equivalent to those awarded for completion of the course at#N#Young Harris College. A minimum grade of 5 is required. Students will be notified in writing if academic credit is awarded. This letter will also advise students that some transfer institutions may require a higher score in order to grant credit for the course in question.
The Young Harris College Honors Program offers exciting intellectual challenges to students interested in maximizing their collegiate academic experiences. Students interested in the Honors Program should apply for admission into the program during their senior year of high school. Honors Program participants will be selected on the basis of their high school academic and extracurricular record, standardized testing, teacher recommendations, an essay, and an interview. Students enrolled in the YHC Honors Program will take special honors courses each semester as part of the regular course load. They will study with professors dedicated to creative and challenging approaches to learning. The courses are designed to delve deeply into the subject matter with other honors students as classmates. Students enrolled in the honors program will receive financial assistance in the form of scholarships. Upon completion of the academic program, honors students may earn an Associate’s Degree with Honors or a Bachelor’s Degree with Honors.
Each baccalaureate degree requires 120 semester hours. A baccalaureate degree program requires at least 30 hours of courses in the major, at least 21 hours of upper division courses in the major field, and at least 36 hours of upper division work overall.
