It is your duty to know the course. The run course is marked with signs, cones and chalk. If you do not see a sign, cone or chalk/spray arrow keep going straight. There will also be volunteers on course as well. Each race venue will have its own unique run course, so please review the course maps. All runs will be out and back.

“The run course was great! The hills made it a challenge, but a triathlon should be a challenge! Course was well marked, volunteers gave great direction and encouragement, and there were ample aid stations. The sections along the lake front and out to Peninsula Park were beautiful. While running the point, a bald eagle flew overhead.

The swim course is an out and back course, starting in front at the Minnesota Power Picnic Area Beach and proceeding East to the turn-around point. Swimmers keep swim buoys on right-hand side for entire swim. A neutral area, marked with buoys, where there are no swimmers, will separate swimmers on the outbound and return legs of the swim.
The 6.2 mile run course is an out and back run that starts and finishes at the Minnesota Power Picnic Area. The scenic run is on a mix of gravel and new tar and heads north along St. Louis County Road #4 along the shore of Island Lake. Three aid stations are located on the run course. The race-course is open to residents of the road. Please make sure you run on the right shoulder of the road. The short course does a loop down to the boat landing.
