A driver’s education course will teach you all about driving laws in Utah, how to operate a motor vehicle, and safe driving techniques.

Selecting Courses. Generally, the upcoming semester’s course schedule is published four to five weeks before registration opens. This gives you time to meet with your advisor and create a plan in Degree Works. Once registration opens, you’ll already have the courses outlined, including the specific sections (course times) you need.
The course is broadcasted to multiple locations throughout the state using interactive video conferencing (IVC) technology. Students and instructors are required to attend through a physical location, but are likely to be in different rooms.

Students may enroll in up to 6.0 credits of online courses. Courses taken online reduce the number of courses taken at the student's Primary School of Enrollment, unless the student has a Student Education Occupation Plan (SEOP) for early graduation, which will allow the student to exceed full-time enrollment.
For high school athletes, the ultimate value of an online course is what the NCAA thinks of it, because students enrolling for the first time at an NCAA Division I or Division II college or university must have their academic credentials certified by the NCAA Eligibility Center in order to practice, compete, or receive athletically related financial aid. Use the NCAA High School Portal to determine whether a particular course offered by a particular provider is NCAA approved.

FIVE TO SIX TIMES PER YEAR. Mountain Heights Academy hosts an orientation at the beginning of the year where students learn about school culture, receive a laptop, learn how to access courses, check email, and connect with teachers. We hold orientations in Southern Utah, Vernal, and West Jordan each August, with additional orientations quarterly for those who join us during the school year.
If the student’s district allows optional split enrollment, or if the student is participating in a mandatory split enrollment at another school, the student must be enrolled for four (4.0) credits at Mountain Heights Academy in order to receive a laptop.
FULL-TIME PROGRAM. Full-time high school students in grades 9-12 need to be enrolled for at least seven (7.0) credits for the school year in our full-service high school program. If the student’s district allows optional split enrollment, or if the student is participating in a mandatory split enrollment at another school, she must be enrolled for five and a half (5.5) credits at Mountain Heights in order to receive a laptop from the school.
Students who spend less than an hour a day per core course earn lower grades. The important thing to remember is that students are able to do school at times that work best for them and their family’s schedule. All work for each week is due by 6:00pm each Friday. Students are encouraged to work ahead, not behind.
Mountain Heights Academy accepts credits from all other Cognia accredited schools and vice versa. Students who graduate from Mountain Heights Academy receive a high school diploma just like they would from their neighborhood school.
Mountain Heights Academy has established a cutting-edge Early College partnership with Dixie State University where eligible students can earn college and high-school credit concurrently either online or in-person. We also have partnerships with SLCC and Snow College.

Visitors who have the instructor's permission to unofficially audit the course should contact their instructor to be added to the course site with the Guest Student role.
Once the student drops the course - within 2 hours the student's account will be removed automatically from the course.
Students' worksheet lists are shared with Canvas by the Registrar's system every 2 hours.
Syllabi are available only for courses that have been published by the instructor and are available in Course Search within 6 hours of the course being published.
FALL 2021: Yale College instructors can work with their departmental registrar to set up enrollment caps which will be enforced on Yale College students only. These enrollment caps will not prevent Graduate or Professional school students from registering for the course even if the course is technically "full".
Reminder: When a student adds a course to one of their worksheets, they will be added to the Canvas site for that course. These enrollments cannot be removed by an instructor or admin. Even if the instructor tried to remove them, they would not see the "remove user" option for those users because their enrollments are strictly managed by integration between the registration system and Canvas.
All Yale College student schedules will be automatically sealed.
