May 07, 2018 · If your school runs on a semester schedule instead of a quarter schedule, summer classes are a great way to get a full semester’s work done in less time. The available term lengths will depend on your college, but generally, classes can be 5-8 weeks long, or even as short as 3 weeks (compared to the 16-18 weeks that a regular semester takes).
A quarter system divides the academic year into four sessions: fall, winter, spring, and summer. Generally, colleges in the USA do not require a summer session, but you can use it to complete classes that were not offered during the other sessions or complete your degree in advance. With a quarter system, each session lasts approximately ten weeks.
For most courses with C-classifications, the WTUs assigned to a course are calculated by multiplying the student credit units by the K-factor for that course classification: K=1 for C-1 through C-6 (a 3-unit course would be 3 x 1= 3 WTUs) K=1.3 for C-7 through C-14 (a 3-unit course would be 3 x 1.3 = 3.9 WTUs)
Summer 2 courses begin July 20 and end August 19. All last exactly 5 weeks.
