Processing Times: AMCAS staff make every attempt to process your application in a timely manner. During our busy season, the verification process can take about eight weeks and begins only after all materials (including all official transcripts required in support of your application) are received.
Once your transcripts have been received and verified, AMCAS will not accept updated transcripts. Therefore, your course list and GPA will be “locked in,” even if you receive new course grades since submitting your AMCAS application.
If you have experienced any form of social, economic or educational disadvantage—at any time in your life—you can apply to medical school as a disadvantaged applicant. To receive this designation means that you will need to complete an additional essay on the AMCAS application.
AMCAS applications open in May, and the earliest you can submit your primary application is early in June. Technically, the primary application deadline is sometime between October and December for most schools, with Early Decision Programs having a deadline of August 1.
Getting it in the first day isn't important. Getting your AMCAS application in the first day will mean it is likely reviewed and processed within a few days. The problem is, if you wait a month or two it will then take 4-6 weeks for your AMCAS application to be processed.
While AMCAS does not require you to use the Transcript Request Form, it does help match your transcript(s) to your application more efficiently. You can find this form in the Schools Attended section of the application.
Submitting your primary application in late June or July is okay, but you may face some consequences. After all, you're submitting your application after thousands of more prepared applicants have already done so.
Can medical schools see how many schools you apply to? No, medical schools cannot see how many other schools you applied to, let alone which ones. In AMCAS, you indicate which schools you'd like your primary application to be sent to.
Transcript deadlines are 14 days after the school's AMCAS application deadline date. If the transcript deadline falls on a weekend or holiday, materials are due on the next business day. Transcripts should be accompanied by the Transcript Request Form, which is located in the AMCAS.
AMCAS GPA is only different than your school GPA if your school uses an unusual system of calculating GPA. If it's the standard -. 3 for a - (eg A- = 3.7) and +. 3 for a + (eg B+ = 3.3), then your school GPA wil equal AMCAS' calculation.
Current/Future (CC) You are not required to list Current/Future coursework and you do not need to provide a transcript for these courses if you include them.
If you repeated a course, enter all of your attempts and corresponding grades even if your school has a grade forgiveness policy. Enter your coursework in the sequence it appears on your official transcript(s). This helps to avoid inadvertent omissions. Do not list coursework twice.

When calculating your GPA, the AMCAS application separates Biology/Chemistry/Physics/Math courses, otherwise known as “BCPM courses” or “science courses,” from “non-science courses,” otherwise known as “all other (AO) courses.” Collectively your BCPM GPA (science GPA) and AO GPA (non-science GPA) comprise your total GPA.
If the letters are grouped together as a packet from one source, or are from a committee, you can make one entry for the whole set. You can create up to 10 entries. Entries may be added and assigned to medical schools after the application has been submitted, but they cannot be edited or deleted after submission.

To address changes made by AMCAS to your Course Work section during the Verification process, you must submit an Academic Change Request (ACR). AMCAS requires that you review verified coursework and GPA information.
Please allow at least five (5) business days for AMCAS to review and/or process the Academic Change Request. When an Academic Change Request is granted, AMCAS will update the medical schools you have applied to with the amended information immediately. This will not impact application deadlines.
Letters of evaluation (although please note that you can only make additions of up to 10 letters, and you must notify AMCAS if you have a letter you wish to no longer be sent to medical schools; you cannot delete letters of evaluation from your application).
Major and Minor- When requesting a change, AMCAS cannot specify a major and minor type as the applicant should before submitting application. AMCAS will change to the most compatible Major and Minor.
However, you must have the school submit an updated transcript reflecting the changed grade and the transcript must be accompanied by a letter from the registrar's office explaining the reason for the change.
