In this unit, you will develop an understanding of the many factors that affect the fashion industry from concept to consumer. It will help to contextualise your creative objectives by supporting the practical aspects of the course with considered business knowledge and theory. You will enhance your knowledge of the business of fashion including trading and the evaluation of design and product processes, and consider contextual agendas that influence the industry.
The Visual Communications 1 unit will introduce you to the many visual communication and narrative techniques used in the industry as a vehicle for fashion promotion. You will develop an understanding of brand values and identity and how visual techniques and platforms are used in fashion promotion to communicate this. You will be required to develop original promotional concepts based on real-world activity, and effectively use a variety of visual mediums, such as social media, web, photography and film, to communicate these.
