Students may enroll concurrently at institutions outside the CSU system without special permission or forms. A student with a graduate degree objective must maintain continuous enrollment (summer sessions and intersession excluded) until the degree is awarded.

Undergraduate students who transfer into CSU Fullerton may be awarded credit for courses completed at other regionally accredited colleges and universities. Summer Session Dates and Deadlines. Summer Session classes are offered in five sessions, and are between 5-10 weeks long. Students may enroll in classes that span multiple sessions.

Maximum Number of Units Undergraduate students' requests to enroll for more than 18 units in the fall or spring semester must be approved by the student's adviser and the department chair of the major. If such requests are denied, appeals may be made to the appropriate college dean.
An additional 12 semester units of coursework may be repeated for grade averaging, i.e. both the original grade and the repeat(s) will be calculated into the student's total GPA. Students cannot improve grades of courses taken at CSUN by repeating them at another institution.

CSU Fullerton CSUF's Mihaylo College of Business and Economics is home to the state's largest nationally accredited undergraduate business program, and its drama, musical theater and dance programs are all nationally recognized.
Undergraduate students are now limited to a maximum of 12 units of repeated coursework with Grades Averaged, from Fall 2009 forward.

Undergraduate students may repeat an individual course for grade forgiveness no more than two times .
To compute the grade-point average for coursework at Cal State Fullerton, the grade-point value of each grade, with the exception noted in the “ Repetition of Courses” section, is multiplied first by the unit value of each course to obtain a total of all grade points earned. The total is then divided by the total units attempted in all courses in which grades of A+, A, A-, B+, B, B-, C+, C, C-, D+, D, D-, F, IC and WU were received. The resulting figure is the grade-point average.
The symbol “I” (Incomplete Authorized) indicates that a portion of required coursework has not been completed and evaluated in the prescribed time period due to unforeseen, but fully justified, reasons and that there is still a possibility of earning credit. It is the responsibility of the student to bring pertinent information to the attention of the instructor and to determine from the instructor the remaining course requirements which must be satisfied to remove the Incomplete. A final grade is assigned when the work agreed upon has been completed and evaluated.
The phrase “major requirements” shall be taken to include core plus concentration (or option) requirements in departments using such terms, and professional course requirements in teacher education curricula. An undergraduate student in any one term may take one course under the Credit/No Credit option.
In addition, he or she may enroll in a required course offered only under Credit/No Credit; however, a maximum of 36 units of Credit/No Credit courses, including those transferred from other institutions, may be counted toward the baccalaureate.
The university authorizes withdrawal after the first two weeks of instruction and prior to the last three weeks of instruction only with the approval of the instructor and the department chair (and, in some cases, the college associate dean).
The challenge examination for any course may be administered only once. A maximum of 30 credits can be earned by challenge examination, including those earned by advanced placement. Credit by examination may not be used to fulfill the minimum residence requirements.
The approved study plan shall be kept on file in the department or program office, and shall include a statement of the basis for final evaluation of the independent study.
Policy on class attendance is within the discretion of the individual faculty member, who shall announce the policy at the first class meeting of the semester. It is especially important that students attend the first meeting of a class.
A leave of absence may be granted based on certain documented extenuating circumstances and normally is granted for not more than one year. A leave of absence is not granted in order for a student to return to a community college to take coursework for financial or academic reasons. An approved leave of absence authorizes the student to return without reapplying to the university and continue under the catalog requirements prior to the absence. Undergraduate and postbaccalaureate unclassified graduate students on approved leaves of one year (two academic semesters) or less are eligible to register for the semester immediately following the end of the leave.
Open University provides an opportunity for people who are not currently admitted to Cal State Fullerton to enroll in undergraduate and graduate-level classes. In fall and spring, registration is provided on a space available basis, and begins the first day of classes.
