Feb 19, 2020 · A Course in Miracles teaches us that “your part is merely to return your thinking to the point at which the error was made” so we can ask for a miracle to replace our mistaken thinking. My days have largely shifted from painful to peaceful, so when “bad days” show up, I really notice them.

Coming Apart at the “Seems” A Course in Miracles tells us that everything we think we see is an illusion. It says there is no world, there are no bodies, and life as we know it is merely a dream. Grasping this intellectually is the first gulp. After we swallow, we still need to …
1 This is a course in miracles. As such, the laws of healing must be understood before the purpose of the course can be accomplished. Let us review the principles that we have covered, and arrange them in a way that summarizes all that must occur for healing to be possible. For when it once is possible it must occur.
The Course emphasizes healing our interpersonal relationships as a means of awakening, as the relationships we have are a projection of the unconscious relationship we believe we have with God. Forgiveness is the primary spiritual practice in the Course.Jan 19, 2020
A Course in Miracles calls such change of belief and changes of perception- from false ones to a correct one - A Miracle. “Miracles rearrange perception, and place the levels of perception in true perspective. This heals at all levels, because sickness comes from confusing the levels”Feb 19, 2020
Wonderful. This book arrived in excellent condition, even though it was used. I tried ACIM in the 1980s for a couple of months, sparsely attended a local group, but just wasn't getting it. I started feeling bad about not being to be able to successfully do the later (more demanding) exercises.
In my mind ACIM Original Edition is the absolute best version for self study, the additional material in the first eight or so chapters is worth having available.

three separateA Course in Miracles consists of three separate volumes: Text, Workbook for Students and Manual for Teachers. The Text presents the theory of the Course, laying out its central ideas in a holistic, symphonic-like progression. The Workbook for Students provides 365 lessons, one for each day of the year.

And so today we have four different sources for ACIM: Helen's 'shorthand' notes, the Urtext, the Hugh Lynn Cayce draft, and the FIP edition(s). This proliferation of Courses is confusing to say the least. But it has had far more serious consequences.
A Course in Miracles is a path of spiritual development that takes the form of an educational course consisting of a Text, a Workbook for Students, and a Manual for Teachers. Its aim is to reeducate our basic perception of reality and teach us to extend this new perception to others, so that we can both give happiness and find happiness.
Once A Course in Miracles was published in 1976, it had a similar effect on readers. They, like Helen, often argued with it, yet at the same time granted it tremendous authority, and many devoted their lives to it. In the time since it was published, the Course has sold nearly three million copies.
This, in fact, is the main meaning of the word “miracle” in the Course: an expression of love that heals the perception of another—which is what love always does. As our love deepens, giving miracles becomes our whole function, our life purpose. “I am the light of the world,” the Workbook has us say.
The Workbook, then, is really a training program in the Course’s system of spiritual practice.
Each of the Course’s three volumes signifies a different phase in this overall process. (The volumes need not be done in order, but they are arranged in a logical sequence that reflects the overall progression the Course seems to expect students to pass through.)
In the summer of 1965, after years of conflict with each other and within their department, Bill made an impassioned speech to Helen in which he said, “There must be another way”—a way in which people could cooperate rather than compete. Helen surprised him by saying she would join him in this new approach.
Because cause and effect cannot be separated, everything we see is the effect of our thoughts. This puts everything we see in our domain, subject to our thoughts. We can change our thoughts and thus we can change what we see. We cannot be a victim because we are the master of our domain.
The lesson points out that seeing is the effect of thoughts, and cause and effect are never separated. One does not come before the other. They are simultaneous. The ego ploy of projection is an attempt to disconnect cause from effect and then make the effect appear to turn on us and be a cause of our distress or vulnerability.
The Holy Spirit, which is also called Universal Inspiration, works through all of us as we are willing to have an open mind. As we join with the one Mind, the one Mind is all we see. Today I practice again, holding Holy Spirit’s hand, realizing that I am not alone in experiencing the effects of my thoughts.
The sole purpose of A Course In Miracles is to bring enlightenment.
If true perception has been achieved in connection with any person, situation or event, total transfer to everyone and everything is certain. On the other hand, one exception held apart from true perception makes its accomplishments anywhere impossible.
The exercises are planned to help you generalize the lessons, so that you will understand that each of them is equally applicable to everyone and everything you see. Transfer of training in true perception does not proceed as does transfer of the training of the world.
This is a course in miracles. It is a required course. Only the time you take it is voluntary. Free will does not mean that you can establish the curriculum. It means only that you can elect what you want to take at a given time. The course does not aim at teaching the meaning of love, for that is beyond what can be taught. It does aim, however, at removing the blocks to the awareness of love’s presence, which is your natural inheritance. The opposite of love is fear, but what is all-encompassing can have no opposite.
