Hey all, I'm taking Harvard's CS50 class right now, and I really appreciate the broad introduction to all sorts of aspects to computing. However, I really do not mesh with David Malan's lecture style. I want a much more chill and drier flow of information.
Took CS50: Free online comp sci course offered by an amazing professor. Took about a month. Followed along The Odin Project: Free course on full-stack web development. Did the Foundations and then the Javascript pathway. Stopped after the Node section to take the next step. Took about 3 months.
Prepare students for computer science technical interviews. Demonstrate how knowledge gained in classes can be used to solve new problems. Encourage teamwork and peer feedback. Learn how to negotiate jobs and manage career growth. A Hatchery Unit (HU) course is a short course to develop specific professional skills for computer science.

I am a senior developer and I'm looking for people to mentor. Basically I'm creating a free website that will teach people javascript for free, similar to the website Free Code Camp in many ways.

My friends and family are telling me to pick CS because it will leave me open to many kinds of jobs anywhere. But if I don't like coding, how many of those jobs will even appeal to me? What's my work experience going to be like if I don't like coding?

Research shows that spaced repetition (repeating things after few days) is the best way to build and strengthen the synaptic connections. Sleep is very important. It clears the metabolic toxins from the brain after a day of "brain use". It is best to sleep directly after learning new things.
Focused mode: Concentrating on things that are usually familiar. Diffused mode: A relaxed mode of thinking "your thoughts are free to wander". When you don’t desire doing/learning something, go through it and just start. The discomfort goes away and, in the long term, this will lead to satisfaction.

You should realize that it’s perfectly normal to start a learning session with a negative feeling even if you like the subject. It’s how you handle those feelings that matters.
You might want to run through the free online Coursera Learning How to Learn course. It's really good. It'll probably feel pretty basic and too slow at first, but stick with it and really put the techniques to use and you'll get a lot out of it.

There’s no shortage of online learning sites that list courses on every topic imaginable. But going through each and every one of them in the hopes of finding a course that appeals and is actually worth doing can take forever.
All programs use graphical user interfaces. While the course uses games as a motivating domain, this is not a course in game design, and the techniques and skills learned are equally applicable across other domains. Even if you have programmed in Java before, you might find this a challenging course.
Brown CS does not offer credit or placement for AP or IB courses. 0190 is designed for students with prior experience on par with the AP-CS A exam. To take 0190, students must pass a placement process that runs in the summer (see the 0190 link for details). Many students with prior experience still take 0150 or 0170 (both cover new content;
