Select the section you want to assign the course or unit to from the Current Section drop-down at the top of the page. Tap the orange "Assign to section" button to assign the current section to the course or unit you're viewing. The "Assign to section" button should turn green and say "assigned" when it has been successfully assigned to the section

How do I assign a course to my students?

Choose the course you are planning to teach to this classroom of students. By assigning a course to your section, your students will automatically be taken to the given course page when they log in. Don’t know what course to assign? Simply choose “Decide later” in the course dropdown for now.

You can change which course or unit a section of students is assigned to in three different places: From your homepage (studio.code.org/home) - recommended if you're updating many sections to *different* courses or units

Can I assign more than one course at a time?

Only one course can be assigned to a section at a time, but students can continue to access any other course at any time by visiting their homepage (studio.code.org/home) once they sign in.

How do I change the course I'm viewing progress for?

You can always change the course you're viewing progress for at any time using the "Course or Unit" dropdown list. This option is recommended if you need to update many sections to *different* courses or units at the same time. From your list of sections on the teacher homepage, click the down-facing arrow on the far right of each section.

You can assign courses by simply by going to any course page and clicking the Assign This Course button located at the top of the screen. You will then be given the option of selecting specific students to assign it to, and a date on which you'd like fo them to complete it.

Step 1 - Get an overview of Code.org's courses and materials

Step 3 - Setup your classroom on Code.org

Your classroom is represented as a section of students on Code.org, and you'll want to create a section for each class you teach (EX: if you're a middle school teacher with 3 classes of students, you'll want to create 3 separate sections, one for each class).

Step 4 - Assign work to your students

Once you've chosen a course from studio.code.org/courses, you can assign it to your section of students. Assigning work to your students will help keep them on track - students will be automatically directed to the work you've assigned when they sign in to Code.org. Step 5 - Become a verified teacher and consider professional development

Code.org offers Professional Development for our CS Fundamentals, CS Discoveries, and CS Principles courses. While our courses can be taught without attending Professional Development, we highly recommend attending: it's a great way to learn more about the curriculum and website as well as build a support network of other computer science teachers.

Course A

Students will learn to program using commands like loops and events. The lessons featured in this course also teach students to meaningfully collaborate with others, investigate different problem-solving techniques, persist in the face of challenging tasks, and learn about internet safety.

Course C

Students will create programs with sequencing, loops, and events. They will investigate problem-solving techniques and develop strategies for building positive communities both online and offline. By the end of the course, students will create interactive games that they can share.

Course E

Students will learn to make fun, interactive projects that reinforce what they’ll learn about online safety. Following these lessons, students will engage in more complex coding. Students will learn about nested loops, functions, and conditionals.
