It can be selected prior to starting a level, and grant Yoshi a variety of beneficial effects. Before a level starts, the game prompts the player to select a Power Badge, although they are not necessary to use. A Power Badge's effect is active for one level and then must be bought again.
Allows Yoshi to dive, jump higher, and climb waterfalls. Yoshi's Woolly World features seven worlds, each with different themes. Most worlds in the game feature nine levels, with eight being compulsory levels and one being a special level. Similarly to Super Mario 3D World, the world maps can be freely roamed by the Yoshis.
Once Yoshi has all 5 Wonder Wools from a course, the final wool will disappear with a flash in the shape of a star as confetti falls while an applause is heard. Then, when you return to the world map, the 5 Wonder Wools will come together to stitch together a new Yoshi for you to use.
This is ideal in World 5 where you encounter a lot of ice that you can melt. But it suffers the same drawback as the other watermelon badge in that Yoshi's mouth is better suited to eating enemies rather than breathing fire at them. The best place to equip this badge would be World 5-7, for its section of ice blocks holding beads and Stamp Patches.
Onwards, Yoshis! Yoshi's Woolly World is a platform game with textile and fabric environment which plays similarly to Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and Yoshi's New Island, with many features coming from these games.
These Smiley Flowers, while often hidden in hard to reach places, can be obtained by touching one, or using a yarn ball. Once you obtain all five in every level for a world, you will unlock a special level after the boss level.
Stamp Patches are items found in Yoshi's Woolly World. They replace the Red Coins found in the previous Yoshi games. Each level in Yoshi's World World contains 20 Stamp Patches, and collecting a certain amount of Stamp Patches will unlock new Stamps that the player could use in Miiverse.
Gorgeous visuals, charming whimsy and carefully constructed stages were part of the appeal on the home console. It's a title fully deserving of its opportunity as Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World on 3DS - thankfully the transition to the smaller screen(s) doesn't detract from the game's quality.

25-30 hoursOverall, I'm about a third of the way through the game, and seems like it'll be a good 25-30 hours of game, likely a bit more when accounting for finding secrets on all the stages. Highly recommend if you're a fan of previous Yoshi's Island games, though this one is likely the best one since the SNES release.

When focusing on the main objectives, Yoshi's Crafted World is about 8 Hours in length. If you're a gamer that strives to see all aspects of the game, you are likely to spend around 35 Hours to obtain 100% completion.
The player is given a total of six questions to answer. Each question provides four answers to choose from, with only one of them being the correct answer. The player has to press "Check Answer" to see if the answer they selected is correct. If they selected the correct answer, their answer will be highlighted green.
Correct answers are marked with a green border. Messages displayed in the quiz for answering a question right or wrong are also shown.
In the Yoshi’s Woolly World game, you can collect Beads throughout levels to exchange for Power Badges, which give you a variety of big-time power-ups. Can you guess what awesome abilities each of these Power Badges can give you?
After the cutscene, Yoshi must do battle with Big Montgomery, the Monty Mole that Kamek has enlarged to a great size. Montgomery starts by burrowing underground and into the background wall. Make sure you're not in his way when he leaps out onto the floor (you can easily see where he's burrowing, though).
Also, you can visit the Yoshi Hut on Craft Island to view the Yoshis available to you all in one place. You can also choose a different Yoshi to use in the Yoshi Hut.
Yoshi's health is measured in hearts. You start each course with 10 hearts, and taking damage from enemies or traps costs 5 hearts per hit. However, if Yoshi takes a hit with 5 or fewer hearts, his heart total will go down to 1, with a crack in the heart, which will remain visible above Yoshi until he heals himself with other hearts--if you take damage while on this last heart, Yoshi will lose a life. In other words, you start each course able to take three hits. Yoshi can increase his heart total by collecting hearts from Winged Clouds or from checkpoints--which also turns nearby enemies into a heart each as well. In rare instances, a heart will dangle from a balloon in midair. Note that you can collect hearts not only by Yoshi touching them, but he can even flick out his tongue to eat them if they're too far away to touch. (Hearts disappear after a few seconds, so this is important to keep in mind.) Yoshi's maximum health is 20 hearts, which allows him to take five hits total--you'll be able to tell he's at full health because the hearts surrounding him will turn from pink to gold.

Keep going right, and when you see three Miss Clucks in the foreground blocking your view, execute a Ground Pound--you'll break through some blocks you couldn't see! Run right to collect beads and Smiley Flower #3, then jump up through the platform and restock your yarn supply at the Yarn Basket. Ahead you'll find a stretch of spongy earth, including some sponge suspended in midair. Jump up and to the right of that to reveal an invisible Winged Cloud. Hitting it will form some beads that contain Stamp Patches #8 & #9. Beware the Miss Cluck charging through here--and resist the temptation to use a Ground Pound on her!
Starting out, you'll see a couple Shy Guys lying underneath a leafy spring. Use this leaf to jump up to the line of beads above it, at the top of which is Stamp Patch #1. Eliminate the Shy Guys, and where they were resting you'll find an invisible Winged Cloud containing five hearts (Hearts: 5/25). Next you'll find a larger leafy spring, with several columns of beads above it. Collect those to obtain Stamp Patch #2 hidden in the top right corner of the beads. Go to the bottom right-hand corner of this area to reveal another invisible Winged Cloud, and hitting it will create a trail of beads at the end of which is Stamp Patch #3. Continue forward, drop down, and past the Shy Guy run into the wall to find a hidden alcove with beads leading to Smiley Flower #1 .
Take the series of leafy springs to make your way upward, but instead of going right into the tree, bounce left to find Wonder Wool #1 and some beads on a cloud platform. Collecting these beads will spawn another trail of beads leading you back where you came from. Follow the red arrow and jump off the leafy spring to the right to spring up to a new area.
There are a total of 14 Power Badges you unlock as you progress through the game. For a certain amount of beads, you can equip a Power Badge before entering a course to help you throughout that course. You can also go to the pause menu and swap out badges even in the middle of a course--but note that you can't equip two badges at the same time, so whichever badge you switch to will replace the previous badge. The following list will give you the names of each Power Badge, how many beads each costs per use, and after which course you unlock the badge for use. I'll also give a brief description of what the various Power Badges do and tell you how useful (or not) each is for completing the game.
Yoshi's Woolly World (originally called Yarn Yoshi) is a 2.5D side-scrolling game for the Wii U by Good-Feel. It is the fifth main platform game starring Yoshi and the first Yoshi home console game since Yoshi's Story. The game takes place in a handcrafted universe, similar to the one in Kirby's Epic Yarn, which was also developed by Good-Feel.
The digital version requires 7991.8 MB (approx. 7.8 GB) of memory to be installed. Due to the software's size, standard set Wii U consoles cannot download it without an external storage device, but Deluxe Wii U consoles can. A port of this game titled Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World was released for Nintendo 3DS in 2017.
However, when a Yoshi eats their partner, the Yoshi getting eaten loses all of their yarn balls. If one of the Yoshis goes too far off screen it is placed into a flying Yoshi Egg and transported to the other Yoshi. When one of the Yoshis goes down a Warp Pipe, the other one is transported with it simultaneously.
Yoshi's Woolly World supports three game saves. Each is denoted with one of the three Yoshi colors available as Yarn Yoshi amiibo; green, pink, and light-blue. When the player starts a new game under one the save files, their default Yoshi will be the same color as the save file.
The second mode is "Mellow Mode". In this mode, Yoshi is Winged Yoshi and players can fly around freely, providing an easier experience.
The game takes place in a handcrafted universe, similar to the one in Kirby's Epic Yarn, which was also developed by Good-Feel. It follows the adventure of a Yoshi tribe trying to pursue and defeat the evil wizard Kamek, who unwove their fellows and scattered their materials across six worlds.
The player may use a total of four different controllers to play the game: the Wii U GamePad, the Wii Remote held sideways, the Wii Classic Controller Pro, and the Wii U Pro Controller. Returning from the Yoshi's Island installments is the two control schemes: patient and hasty, with patient being the default control style. When throwing an egg, patient requires the player to push the egg throwing button again to throw the egg while hasty control schemes allow the Yoshi to throw an egg when the button is released. The Gyro control scheme, which takes advantage of Wii U gyro capabilities to line up the cursor rather than the cursor moving being automatic back and forth, returns from Yoshi's New Island, though it may only be used if the player has the Wii Remote selected as their controller, thus making it closer to its Wario Land: Shake It! counterpart.
A Yarn Yoshi amiibo can be used to store a custom Yoshi pattern and transfer it to another copy of the 3DS game. Stamp Patches have been removed from this version, and are replaced with Pencil Patches. Multiplayer mode has been removed, even though the introduction still shows two Yoshis escaping from Kamek.
It also introduces Poochy Pups, who assist the player in discovering secrets when playing in the easier Mellow Mode, Yoshi Theater, which features 31 Yoshi stop-motion videos, and the ability to design custom patterns for Yarn Yoshi.
Incidentally, it also brings some of the happiest, catchiest music ever to the 3DS. Yoshi’s faithful Poochy is loveable new addition, but he feels underused; he appears only in a handful of animated shorts, a sparse challenge mode, and as little more than a series of assists in the super-easy ‘Mellow’ mode.
Even though most of the tactile charm of the Wii U original has been lost to the 3DS’s technical limitations, there’s still plenty of fun to be uncovered in this colourful and often inventive platformer. Incidentally, it also brings some of the happiest, catchiest music ever to the 3DS.
If a Smiley Flower is collected at the end of a stage , instead of playing a Bonus Game, a Gold Rush for Poochy Dash is unlocked where Poochy can collect Beads from a Gold Lakitu. There is no longer a results screen with Yoshi looking at it, due to the collectibles being shown on the touch screen.
