Before an instructor can send emails through the Canvas Inbox tool, which sends students an email notification to their Georgetown email inbox, make sure your course is published. Canvas will however allow instructors to send emails to TAs and other instructors when a course is unpublished– just not students.
You can receive Canvas notifications for the courses you are observing. Notifications are sent to Canvas contact methods listed in your account User Settings. Canvas includes a set of default notification settings. However, you can change the default settings by setting your own notification settings.
Notifications are sent as one of four delivery types: notify me right away, daily summary, weekly summary, or don't send. If you change a setting, the change is made immediately to your account.

Course notifications are enabled by default. In the Course Notification Settings page, users can choose to disable notifications for the course by clicking the View Course Notifications button and then on the resulting screen, clicking the green check next to Enable Notifications.
These settings are applied to all courses and organizations across Canvas; you cannot adjust notification settings for an individual course or organization.
