Apr 10, 2017 · To show how a player’s performance improves/deteriorates in time. The game of golf has so many variables that make it impossible for a player to follow-up with his/her progress. Different course, different weather, different playing times, different groups, etc. At the end of the day only your golf handicap will know if you are improving in time.

Its possible that this guy plays better when he's playing by himself on an empty golf course than he does playing with other people at a much slower pace. He might want to keep a record of ALL rounds, not only the USGA-acceptable rounds, so he keeps a separate unofficial handicap on Grint.

I have tried several GPS apps and have found a few that were very good and few not so good. The Grint app features a solid GPS that uses Google Map images as you play along. So, I am playing in a matchplay tournament at my local course. I was paired up against a guy who's GHIN handicap card says he's a 12.0. cool. mine is 13 and trending to 11.7. should be a pretty good matchup, and I'll get a stroke.
As long as the stakes are pretty low, I wouldn't sweat it much. Otherwise, you may consider asking around about him. In my limited experience the chaps that run tournaments often have a long memory if someone develops a bit of a dodgy reputation. ... Don't even accuse him of anything. Just ask about him and people will talk.
Let me ask a naive question: how does a guy who says he is a 12 cap have a different index saying he is a 7.4? And has scores that are 6 and 7 and 9? I'd buy it easier if he was a 20 cap that shot a few 15 overs but it's hard to swallow the differential at that starting point.
