· Like the OP said, poor management doomed the place, as did lack of revenue. Elite runs five other courses and with the possible exception of Black Mountain, they are all decent courses. It does make me wonder if maybe Vegas over-built when it comes to golf courses, at least at the high-end level.

3 Nine Hole Courses, I played the Outlaw and Desperado. Outlaw was easier, but still challenging, Desperado was tough, the 4 finishing holes require carry over a ravine. The fairways were the biggest detraction..
This unique 27-hole layout stretches to 7,000+ yards through the desert landscape and offers panoramic views of the dazzling Vegas skyline.
Some of the holes do have a bit of a carry of the tees and some new golfers or ladies might have some trouble meeting the carry but otherwise they should enjoy the course.

Guns will replace golf clubs at Elk Ridge , regarded as one of the top 20 public courses in Michigan since opening in 1992. It was arguably the best work of Michigan-based architect Jerry Matthews, who designed more courses in the state than anyone. The natural site featured marvelous holes intertwined by marshes, a stream and large ponds. Industry insiders indicate the course seemed to be doing fine, but an offer to buy the land for use as a private hunting preserve was too good to pass up in today's climate.
Weatherwax Golf Course, Middletown, Ohio. When the MetroParks of Butler County acquired the golf course property in late 2015, it announced that it was going to combine it with the adjacent Sebald Park to create the new Elk Creek MetroPark, and that was the end of Weatherwax.
A closure is like a death in the family for many loyal local golfers. Eventually the grief will pass, and they'll move on to greener pastures.
Roddy Ranch Golf Course, Antioch, Calif. After 16 years as a golf course, this J. Michael Poellot design of 6,976 yards will return to ranch land in the “East Bay” 45 minutes from San Francisco. Not even 40,000 rounds per year could offset the water costs in California's ongoing drought.
The 36-hole complex, which opened in 1972 , was designed by Arthur Hills and then Tour professional Tony Jacklin. In 1996, the courses and practice facilities received a facelift, elevating it to top-10 status in the state of Ohio.
Many say city leaders brought the Badlands lawsuits on themselves after placing overly burdensome restrictions on developer and landowner Yohan Lowie. The council's past actions have been criticized as being politically motivated by a handful of wealthy Queensridge homeowners who don't want the land developed.
Hill is a criminal defense lawyer whose clients have included the president of the Vagos biker gang and cattle rancher Ammon Bundy of the infamous armed standoff with federal law enforcement. Because Hill 's contract is for professional services, the city says it did not have to go out to bid.
Black Mountain is one of the longest-standing golf courses in Nevada. "Some of them, from what I understand, were losing money. Others weren't making as much money," Garcia said. "I rented on a golf course and wouldn't buy for this exact reason.".
The Black Mountain Golf Course and Country Club in Henderson could be shutting down by this fall if it cannot find a buyer. People who live in the area said they have grown used to brown grass from the bankrupt course in their backyards, but golfers still hit the tees regularly.
Legacy Golf Club recently reopened after being purchased by new owners Georges Maalouf and Eddie Haddad. Silverstone Golf Club and Badlands Golf Club are both closed. George Garcia, the president of planning and development services firm GC Garcia, warned that the industry has become a lot more risky than it used to be.
Even Former Councilman Bob Coffin came out to speak against the repeal during the public comment period. "I lived this with you for five years and it's an ugly situation," Coffin said. Coffin's involvement in the Badlands case has been controversial from the beginning.
ORIGINAL STORY: If developer Yohan Lowie had his way with the residentially-zoned land he owns, the wasteland that used to be the Badlands golf course would be full of luxury homes, trees, walking paths and more.
Lowie's company filed a series of ongoing lawsuits against the City of Las Vegas that have cost taxpayers more than $2 million so far. The cases accuse the city of taking his property, denying his building permit applications and clawing back the zoning.
The Nevada Supreme Court confirmed Badlands is zoned for residential development and that the District Court was wrong in reviewing and overturning the city's original approval of Lowie's development plans.
Beers said the city's decision to fight the residential zoning of Badlands was a bad decision with no basis in law. He echoed Lowie's concerns when we spoke to him last September. "This open space is private property.
The city of Las Vegas was ordered Thursday to pay more than $34 million to the developer behind stalled housing plans on the defunct Badlands Golf Club course near Summerlin.
EHB had sought to construct housing on the closed golf course after its 2015 purchase of the 250-acre plot winding through the upscale Queensridge neighborhood, setting off a bitter showdown with neighbors and city lawmakers.
While the 35-acre parcel lawsuit has now been adjudicated — although the City Council voted earlier this month to appeal Williams’ ruling — cases that involve parcels of 133, 65 and 17 acres remain undecided.
