With his maiden win, Bell is now ranked fourth in the NASCAR Cup Series standings. Hamlin, who won Stage 2, leads the championship by 12 points over Logano heading to the Dixie Vodka 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway next Sunday (3:30 p.m. ET; Fox, MRN, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio).
Defending race winner and reigning series champion Chase Elliott led a race-best 45 laps but was caught up in heavy traffic after his final pit stop with 15 laps remaining.
His work Sunday, however, was more reminiscent of a veteran. There were eight caution flags, eight race leaders and a whole lot of action in the waning laps.
Chase Elliott won Sunday’s Go Bowling 235 and moved into fourth place in the Cup Series point standings.
Among the familiar names at the top of the Daytona results was newcomer Kaz Grala, who finished seventh in his first Cup Series start. He replaced Austin Dillon, who was out after reporting a positive COVID-19 test.
Daniel Hemric finished third after starting at the rear because his car failed inspection three times before the race. Brandon Jones was fourth, giving Joe Gibbs Racing three of the top four spots. Jeb Burton placed fifth.
“Dreams come true,” the 18-year-old Gibbs said.
Gibbs, the grandson of car owner Joe Gibbs, went from fifth to the lead on the restart, passing Jeb Burton for first in Turn 3. Gibbs led 14 of the 56 laps.
Cindric won the NASCAR Xfinity Series race on the road course at Daytona International Speedway on Saturday, his fifth victory in the plast six events. Cindric looked like the guy to beat early but had to escape a crazy restart late to stay in contention.
