If you look closely during the first task, the obstacle course, you can actually see Shinso hard at work. Or rather, you can see his quirk hard at work. For he's actually being carried through the course by others.
She explains that all eleven classes must race four kilometers around the outside of the festival stadium throughout an obstacle course. Students are permitted to use their Quirks as much as they like as long as they don't leave the course. All the students take their places in front of a large corridor that leads outside the stadium.
Once the countdown to the start of the race completes, all the students rush through the doorway and end up jam-packed together. Shinso is very aware of the limits of his quirk. Once people learn it, they'll naturally stop responding to him – it's the reasonable reaction, yes? (We're ignoring Midoriya's stubbornness here). That will eventually apply to his time as a hero, which means it's something he needs to deal with.

That's actually...horrifying. Killgrave does not have a good reputation in the Marvel Universe, and with good reason. We know (thanks to the manga) that Shinso doesn't go that route, or at least, not yet. But the implication is still an alarming one.
Classes 1-A and 1-B are both in the Heroics department of U.A., but there are other departments too, such as the Support department, and the General Studies department. One fan theory states that since Hitoshi Shinso was moved from the Gen-ed department to the Heroics department, then surely Aizawa must have done something similar as a student.
Another fan theory uses evidence from the Vigilantes spinoff manga to make another extrapolation: that Aizawa didn't take part in the physical exam, nor did he end up in the General education department at any point. His friendship with Midnight and Present Mic in his second year is a vital clue.
