The Innisbrook Resort has been owned and operated by Salamander Hotels & Resorts since July 2007, having previously been owned by the Golf Trust investment group since 2004 under the Westin Hotels & Resorts brand.

Nestled on 130 acres, just 35 minutes from Chicago, is Innsbrook Country Club’s William Langford Preserved Original Design championship golf course. This legendary 18 hole course is unique with six Par-3, six Par-4 and six Par-5 holes.
Innsbrook Country Club offers two member restaurants for your enjoyment. Langford’s Grille offers fine dining in a more formal atmosphere. An outdoor patio features umbrella tables for your dining pleasure. We also host live entertainment on some weekends. Our Member Grille is a great place to relax with your family and friends.

The Snake Pit are holes 15, 16, 17, and 18, with the last 3 holes being named after a poisonous viper.
In 2007, Copperhead's then-tournament director Gerald Goodman nicknamed the closing holes the “snake pit” because of their difficulty. The par-4, par-3, par-4 finish routinely challenged even the best PGA Tour golfers.
Can You Play Innisbrook Without Staying There? No. You need to stay at the resort or become a member to play on the courses. The most convenient way to play the courses is to book a stay at the resort with one of the golf packages with prices starting around $400 for a two-night stay.

The 18 hole golf course features large bent grass greens, strategically placed bunkers and contoured bent grass fairways. A modern fleet of golf carts are available but rentals are not mandatory. Anyone who plays golf knows that it’s about more than the game.
In winter months the clubhouse is transformed into a festive event venue. The lounge is converted into a second function space and the entire Clubhouse is decorated with seasonal decor. The large windows provide a view of the snow covered golf course which is a stunning back-drop.

When Sheila Johnson bought a floundering Innisbrook Resort for a reported $35 million in 2007, she became what she calls an "accidental hospitality owner in the golf business."
Johnson also is the only African-American woman to hold ownership stakes in three professional teams -- the Washington Wizards, Capitals and Mystics -- and the first to serve on the USGA's Executive Committee. She held that position for five years, the latter three as its secretary.

The Innisbrook Women’s Golf Association provides handicap services for women members. It also plans and sponsors events for members, including regular weekly games and special events such as the Club Championship, President’s Cup and Winter Classic.
Membership Initiation fees and dues are paid to Salamander Innisbrook. Non-member private renters have ingress and egress rights only.
Sheila Johnson was born on January 25, 1949 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, the daughter of a neurosurgeon father who worked for the Veterans Administration, and an accountant mother.
Johnson is a Global Ambassador for CARE, a humanitarian organization fighting global poverty. Sheila's I Am Powerful Challenge raised over $8 million in 2007. She serves as Chair of the Board of Governors of Parsons The New School for Design in New York and funded the opening of the Sheila C.
Johnson's first film, Kicking It, premiered at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, UT. She served as sole executive producer on her second film, A Powerful Noise, which premiered at the 2008 Tribeca Film Festival in New York.
For 33 years from 1969–2002, she was married to Robert L. Johnson. Together they founded the entertainment network BET. They sold the company to Viacom in 1999. They have two children.
