There is a very subtle link at the top of the group tools menu, but otherwise, the student must use the Courses tab, or Dashboard, to get back to the course itself. There appears to be no way to configure the tools provided for a group.

Your instructor can provide access to your course groups in three ways. Groups page link: The Groups page link appears on the course menu or in a content area. The Groups page lists all available groups and sign-up sheets for self-enroll groups. My Groups panel: The My Groups panel appears after the course menu.
There are more Course Navigation links available in your course site from integrated tools that have been added to our Canvas environment. Certain integrated tools only appear for certain colleges or departments, based on licensing agreements.
If you disable the Course Navigation link for an external tool, the link no longer displays in your Course Navigation list. If the course navigation link for the page is disabled and hidden from students, the Student View button does not display. In Course Navigation, click the Settings link.
This Course Navigation link allows you access to your Google Drive right in the course interface. If you and/or your students frequently use Google Drive, you may want to leave this navigation link on. Libraries Course Reserves can create a page of course readings and resources and then makes that page available to your students. Enabling this link gives students quick access to a list of hyperlinks that lead directly to the Libraries resource. When you use the Announcements feature in Canvas, you automatically enable this link in the Course Navigation for students. Announcements can also be set up to show up in your home page. Groups usually consist of a small number of students for study groups or projects. These groups have their own collaboration areas in the course so that they can communicate and share files. Your instructor places you in a group or allows you to select the group you want to join.
If you create a group, your classmates have to self-enroll in the group. In the list of groups, they select Sign Up after the group name .
The group homepage is the center for group activity and can contain a description of the group, a list of members, and tools. If your instructor allows, you can customize this page with a banner, select a color scheme, and add personal modules, such as Report Card. Personal modules are visible only to the member who added the modules. You can also access your group tools and assignments here.
Disabled users are counted in the overall group enrollment total until the course membership or user are purged.
You'll also see a notification in your activity stream when you need to join a group.
Your instructor may ask you to self-enroll in a course group. Based on your instructor's settings, you might see the names of other group members.

When you create a new database, the category displayed by default is Tables and Related Views, and the group is All Tables. When you select a category, the items are arranged into the groups that the category contains. Hiding an object or group can be a better option than deleting it when the object or group is not used or you want to restrict access to it. Hiding an object does not change the database, whereas deleting an object or group (even if it appears to be a duplicate) can break part or all of the functionality of the database.
