Pinehurst No. 2 will be home to the U.S. Open for the fourth time in 25 years when the national championship returns to Pinehurst Resort and Country Club in 2024, the United States Golf Association announced on Wednesday.

Green speeds on the No. 2 course are all in the range of 12.7 to 13.1 That's after double mowing and a single roll. Of course those numbers will change during the day. It's called “bounce back,” the tendency of freshly cut and rolled turf to emerge from its morning treatment.
No 2. is the hardest design at Pinehurst, with turtle-back greens and numerous three-shot holes (the Championship tees play from 7,588 yards). Poor approach shots will bounce away from the flag. But the course's strategic characteristics, natural beauty and rich history will more than make up for its difficulty.
