The driving range was enlarged and reshaped with larger targets and landing areas and featuring a new elevated hitting area for better visibility; creating a premier practice facility for golf patrons. The Jimmy Clay Golf Course became part of a 36-hole complex with the addition of the Roy Kizer Golf Course in 1994.
Austin is a gateway city to the storied Texas Hill Country—home to German beer, Texas wines, barbecue and some excellent golf courses. The rolling hills, dotted with lakes, limestone cliffs and caverns, natural springs and stands of cypress and oak, make for dramatic and challenging layouts.

Anyone wishing to become a member is simply advised to contact a member of the club for information. Given its privacy, it's not surprising that precise membership fees are hard to come by. Nevertheless, the initiation fee is reportedly in the region of $100,000.

To sum up, the golf course at Austin Country Club is tough. It is loaded with heroic carries and very tough bunkers. To shoot a good score here requires very accurate ball striking and the guts to take aggressive lines. It's one of the tougher courses I have played and definitely a true test of golf.
