What is an APC?

The Airlift Load Planners Course (APC) is designed to educate U nit Movement Officers (UDMs in the Air Force) or supervisory personnel (E-5 and above) in airlift planning and execution of joint combat airlift ops. Individuals not fitting within the rank structure may be admitted if they are members of a “Mobility Force” unit (Aerial Port, DCC/CDF, A/DAGG, Embark Cadre, TALCE/CRE/CRG, etc.). It is required that each deployed unit or team have the capability to redeploy itself (to include airlift load planning). We highly commended that each unit’s UMO/UDM, alternate UMO/UDM, or individuals tasked with the redeployment duties attend the APC. There is no guarantee that a CDF/DCC/Aerial Port will be at any forward operating location to redeploy your unit. Each unit should be as “Self-sufficient” as possible. The APC will have a minimum of 10, and a maximum of 25 students. The course consists of 48 hours (7 days) of training, and covers introduction to ICODES, aircraft weight and balance, load planning principles, aircraft characteristics, and manifesting. The APC exam will consist of a 30-question written evaluation and four aircraft load planning exercises. The minimum passing score for each exam is 80%. Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive certification via AMC Form 9, Airlift Load Plan Certification, and an AF Form 1256, Certification of Training with either PDS Code 9N1 (Air Force), M9T (Navy and Marines), or 8C-S13S/553-F4 (Army). Airlift Load Planning Course certification will be valid for 24 months. Most units prefer to train half of their folks each year, so that they do not “bingo” all at one time.
