Opened in beautiful central Pennsylvania in 1965, Lost Creek Golf Course is moderate in length and challenging in design. The course has a wonderful variety of holes that contain large, fast, undulating, bent grass greens and terrain changes that offer beautiful views.
The par 71 golf course is guarded by 48 bunkers and, of course, Lost Creek — which meanders through the property and comes into play on a third of the holes. Each hole has four sets of tee markers, which makes the layout playable for golfers of all abilities.

Anyone wishing to become a member is simply advised to contact a member of the club for information. Given its privacy, it's not surprising that precise membership fees are hard to come by. Nevertheless, the initiation fee is reportedly in the region of $100,000.

Bermuda grassBut, in 1984, the club moved to its current location west of Central Austin. The design: The Pete Dye-designed course most recently underwent a renovation in 2015 and uses Bent grass for the fairways and Bermuda grass for the greens.
To sum up, the golf course at Austin Country Club is tough. It is loaded with heroic carries and very tough bunkers. To shoot a good score here requires very accurate ball striking and the guts to take aggressive lines. It's one of the tougher courses I have played and definitely a true test of golf.

TC and river place are now the same price and part of the Arcis network (along with onion creek in south Austin).
Thanks for the recommendations. Sounds like most are happy with TC. Probably a big factor is if I located to Cedar Park or Steiner Ranch. I’m a 10hcp and pretty long, so I don’t want a shorter course. But I also want a regular play course that is enjoyable and doesn’t kick my a** every time.
Great Hills would be my choice in NW Austin for best experience / value. They are building a new clubhouse, not sure if its done yet.
Don't know that much where all the clubs in Austin are located but the absolute best in the area has to be Spanish Oaks for a pure golf club. Amazing course
I disagree. I found AGC to be in the best conditions I have ever seen but the course was not that interesting. Lots of the same and not that challenging. I also don't like that there are only 2 par 5's. I find Spanish has a lot more character as far as a course.
