I'll be traveling to California for a wedding and will have the opportunity to stay at the Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay. I was thinking about getting a round of golf in during my visit. The hotel has two courses the Old and Ocean course, does anyone have any thoughts on which one to play.

Seeing as you are new to the game, definitely go with the Ocean Course.#N#Pretty much any region in North America can give you the experience of playing through a housing development; however, not many give you a view of the ocean for 16 holes. It's certainly not a bad track either. Enjoy your stay and your round

Don't bother with the Old Course unless you really want to be penalized, and have to deal with most holes falling between lines of homes/condos. I personally found the Ocean Course to be much more enjoyable due to the scenery, and it is also a LOT more playable due its links styling.

The views from the Ocean Course are amazing, and as someone who is not from CA, I don't take the Pacific Ocean for granted. Many Californians told me that the Old Course is "better", and after playing it, I was very upset that I listened to them. To me, it is a course that can be duplicated on most real estate in the US.

Also, after whichever course you play, stop in the restaurant for dinner. I'm pretty sure I ate the cheesecake and it was by far the best I've ever had. The Ritz does things right, that's for sure.
