With a $25 gratuity per round, caddies can pull in $500 a day for a “dub-dub.” One of our caddies, a 25-year veteran who has looped in major championships, splits his time equally between Bandon and a premier, old money country club in the south.
(Bandon Dunes patriarch Mike Keiser kicked in $25K.) In a concerted effort to be inclusive, 374 caddies received a payout, with full-timers getting close to $1,500 and seasonal loopers taking home about a third of that. The money helped keep all of them afloat, emotionally as well as financially.
Pack layers, including a base and mid-layer, as well as long pants (but don't be afraid to throw your golf shorts in, too). Prepare for rain with waterproof golf pants, rain golf gloves, and a rain jacket. Also, keep a windproof shell at your disposal just in case the wind kicks up.
Yes. Caddies are encouraged. Resort Caddies are individual contractors and typically receive an average of $100+ per bag, per round.
In terms of walkability, Bandon Dunes is a strong 3.75 out of 4. With or without a caddie, this is an pretty easy walk even on the windiest day.
This is something we learned from experience: you don't need a lot of golf balls at Bandon Dunes. Yes, there are spots where you can lose a ball, but between the massive fairways and the skilled caddies, you won't go through too many. Golf balls are heavy. Bring the smallest amount you're comfortable with.

Going to have one day at Bandon Dunes in the fall. Wanna play one of the courses then a trek around Preserve before I head back to where we are staying on the coast. Which course is an absolute must play?
While I appreciate your blunt response... I am also interested in anyones feed back on the other 5 courses.
I don't need a consensus. I would like opinions to then formulate my own. Like why do you like Old Mac?
Really confused how my attitude is poor, but you are absolutely correct. I didn't ask my question in a way to get the answer I was looking for... obviously Bandon is amazing, all the threads I read through were people giving their opinions on the courses with no reasoning. Just their thought on which ones are the best.
Tough call, but Pacific Dunes is the logical and default choice. No ocean holes at Trails or Old Mac. Old Mac is a love it or hate it course so don't risk it. Bandon Dunes is a poor man's Pacific Dunes, but is often many golfer's favorite at the end of the trip.
Why don’t you let us know what are you looking for when picking the course or in a course you like?
Do yourself a favor and learn how to use the ignore feature for some of the Richard Nogins here. Honestly, you can’t go wrong with any of the courses. They are all fantastic. Bandon Trials is the only one that’s not links layout, however it’s still a great course. Pacific Dunes and Bandon Dunes are similar.
Since it's a topic in many of the threads here, I thought I'd make it simple and create one thread dedicated to short loop options at the Bandon courses. These are based on the notion of which holes end at or near a quick return to the respective club house (e.g., OM #5 tee is a short walk over the hill on the access road to the club house).
I'll be interested to see if/how much we'll be able to jump around Sheep Ranch a couple years from now when the course isn't as packed. Also, one of these days I'm going to include 11 at Trails in a "short loop" and take the trail all the way back to the clubhouse.
Copy paste mine for Bandon short loops and Bandon replay rounds and replay round short loops (gotta get those keywords indexed ) from another thread here, which will repeat some of the above in regards to Bandon replay rounds and short loops...
Because why not and for visual learners to pair up with our werdz above. Clicking on them will display them at their full size.
Not that it's all that significant from some of the others, but with the new Round Lake lodging coming, is Trails 1-6 a new short loop, especially if staying there? Seems like a fun way to finish a day.

Looks like there is a link on Titleist Wedge Works for the new Vokey SM9, but doesn't show any photos yet.
Do you ever have one of those memories that jumps up and slaps you in the face? It happened to me the other day. It wasn’t the first time, and I’m sure it won’t be the last. One of those memories that forces you to stop whatever it is that you are doing and reminisce.
I love Jamaica. I have been to the island for several trips with my family and the feeling I get every time I think about a next visit is always exciting. On past trips, I have made Jamaican friends that I will remember for the rest of my life. The people there are so happy and good. One Love.
Teeth of the Dog. Even the name is daunting. Rated the number one course in the Caribbean and number 32 in the world in the 2020 Golf Digest Course Rankings, the Pete Dye masterpiece on the south shore of the Dominican Republic lives up to the name.
