This document provides an overview of how to locate your course ID in Blackboard. From within your course, navigate to the Course Management section at the bottom of the left-hand main menu. Expand Customization and click on Properties. The Course ID is listed under the Course Name.

A course ID is a unique identifier created for every Mastering course. It contains the course creator's last name and five digits.
On the Courses page, open a course's menu and select Edit. Edit the course properties. You can't change the course ID. Select Submit.
To locate your course's Canvas course number within the course URL (browser address), navigate to your course's homepage. For example, from your Canvas dashboard, click on a course name. On the course homepage, the course number will appear at the very end of the browser URL.
If you need to provide the course shell ID for a course to which you are not yet enrolled, you will need to find it by hovering your mouse over the course link (on any page of Moodle), and looking at the bottom-left of your browser window. You will see a URL similar to this: moodle.vcc.ca/course/view.php? id=5707.
Course Numbers These numbers are the main way colleges organize their course catalog. No two courses at a college will share the exact same course number. The most useful thing for students to understand about these numbers is how to distinguish between upper-level credit and lower-level credit.
Typically, a course code includes a letter or number for each specific department; a letter or number for each specific subject (i.e., American history in the history/social studies department OR biology in the science department.)
Note: If your instructor is using a non-Pearson learning management system such as Blackboard, Canvas or Brightspace along with a Pearson MyLab do not use a Course ID. Instead, sign into your instructor's course from your campus website site and click on a link within that course to register for a Pearson MyLab.
The Course Management menu is located on the lower left menu bar on the Course Home Page. The course management menu provides instructors with tools to create, manage and modify the course. Files, Course Tools, Evaluation, Grade Center, Users and Groups, Customization, Packages and Utilities, and Help are available.
Move your cursor over the module to see the Manage Course List Module Settings gear icon on the right side of the module's title bar and select it.
