At the newly renovated Players Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., it's $549 to play in peak season. Fortunately, to get an advanced tee time, there isn't a requirement to stay at the resort, which is the Marriott Sawgrass Golf Resort & Spa.

The Ocean Course is one of two 18-hole golf courses at Ponte Vedra Inn & Club. Built in 1928 without the help of construction equipment, a hundred mules were used to dredge lagoons and shape the mounding that provides dramatic undulations throughout the golf course.

Designed by British golf course architect Herbert Strong, the Ocean made its debut in 1931 and was set to host the 1939 Ryder Cup before World War II intervened. The Ocean has also served as the site for U.S. Open qualifying on five occasions.

It’s a nice addition.”. Weed, who also renovated the resort’s sister course, the Lagoon, in 2008, jumped at the chance to remodel the Ocean Course a second time. One, he was obviously familiar with the course. Two, he embraced the challenge.

Tee time reservations for the opening weekend will be available beginning Friday, September 11 at 7 a.m.. Tee times may be made by calling 904.285.5200 or in person at the Golf Pro Shop. Tee times on pvicmember.com, by email or the Club Member App will not be available at this time.
Annual golf members may opt in to the new Ocean Open a series of three one-day tournaments taking place on September 18,19, 20. The tournament is complimentary.
Following the reopening weekend, tee times may be made in person, by phone, or on the Club Member App seven days in advance. After Thursday, October 1 all tee times may be booked two weeks in advance.
