While it has a different name, Putt-Putt is generally played the same as mini-golf, or regular golf for that matter. The main goal is to get the tiny ball into the hole in as few hits as possible.
In crazy golf, these are found on the playing surface, and players have to putt their ball through or over them. In adventure golf, the features are often next to the holes, with players instead having to negotiate humps, bumps and big slopes. Minigolf is the umbrella term for the sport as a whole.
ScotlandThe modern game of golf originated in 15th century Scotland. The 18-hole round was created at the Old Course at St Andrews in 1764.
Tukwila’s Fun Center has two outdoor mini-golf courses with 18 holes each. Memory Lane is based on old-time miniature golf courses, featuring a schoolhouse, a model of the Eiffel Tower, and a Pixie House; Arctic Adventure boasts bears and a bait house. K and A Mini golf is sits in the small town of Cambridge, MN, about 45 minutes northwest of Minneapolis. The theming here is pretty basic, so don’t expect a whole lot aside from a few potted plants and bark mulch. That said, this course was built in 2019, so it’s one of the newest courses on our list.
Adventure Falls Mini Golf in Taylors Falls, MN is about an hour from the Twin Cities , but that hasn’t stopped it from becoming one of the most popular mini golf courses in the area. This 18 hole courses includes ponds, streams, and waterfalls. And while parts of the course are definitely in need of a little TLC, it all feels part of the retro vibe.

Grand Slam Mini Golf (Coon Rapids) The second Grand Slam location in the Twin Cities, this course is a little more dated and not quite as well themed as the Burnsville location. This course features a more generic castle theme, and there’s a few knights and dragons scattered throughout.
With a course so legendary it’s been featured in The New York Times, Big Stone Mini Golf is the undisputed king of outdoor miniature golf courses in the Twin Cities. Created as a labor of love, this 14 hole course sits in the backyard of local artist Bruce Stillman. And you’ll find the artistic influence everywhere.
Eagle Lake Youth Golf Center is a full sized golf course 20 minutes northwest of Minneapolis. As you could probably tell from our inclusion on the list, this golf course also features a second golf course… of the miniature variety.
Right on the banks of the Shawsheen River, Merrimack Valley Pavilion’s “Tiki Island” mini golf course simulates a tropical island. “Kong,” a life-sized gorilla, sits perched above the challenging 18-hole course complete with a geyser and a cave waterfall.
