Jun 27, 2015 · Built in 1957 the Bridgehampton Race Circuit was located in the heart of the Hamptons on Long Island NY. It was in operation until 1997 when ever growing public displeasure with the track caused it to be converted to a golf course.
The 9-hole "Bridgehampton" course at the The Bridgehampton Club facility in Bridgehampton, New York features 2,846 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 35. The course rating is 67.8 and it has a slope rating of 122.
The Bridgehampton Race Circuit -- as revered a piece of asphalt as any in the States -- was to become a giant condominium complex. Public roads in the Bridgehampton area were used for races in the periods 1915-1921 and 1949-1953. After the tragic accident at Watkins Glen in 1952 Watkins Glen Grand Prix, racing on state maintained roadways in New York came to an end. The Town of Bridgehampton began searching for a new site, and located a parcel near Sag Harbor.
