Soldier Hollow Golf Course offers a championship, 36-hole complex built on the mountainside above Midway. A part of gorgeous Wasatch Mountain State Park, Soldier Hollow was a major venue during the 2002 Winter Olympics.
The golf course is so good, Soldier Hollow was awarded the 2012 USGA United States Public Links tournament, with a combination of the two golf courses. “Soldier H o llow is one of the best “Golf Values” in the state of Utah and perhaps one of the best in the country. The course is the work of Gene Bates, who has designed other courses in Utah such as Green Spring, Riverbend and Old Mill. Situated on 460 acres, of which 250 is maintainable turf, Soldier Hollow was up and running just two years after ground was first broken.
The two 18-hole courses at Soldier Hollow were designed with different clientele in mind, although most golfers can play either. They are named “Gold” and “Silver“ to reflect the Olympic Heritage of the site. The Silver is the tamer of the two, slightly shorter with wider fairways.

Purchased by the Creighton family in 2013, one of their goals was to take the course to a higher level by upgrading course conditions and constantly making improvements.
It's all dependent on the setup, of course, but Quail Hollow has historically played among the toughest courses on Tour. It ranked fifth most difficult (1.257 strokes over par) in 2021, the last time it hosted the Wells Fargo, and the hardest (+2.47) when it hosted the 2017 PGA.

THE HOLE. Quail Hollow's 14th has always been a short par 4 around 350 yards in length. The hole begins in the trees and plays straight out to a fairway sloped right-to-left toward a lake that starts to come into play 225 yards from the tee, then bends left, hugging the water.
