A masterpiece is born Shoal Creek Club Opens Shoal Creek opened for Member play in July of 1977, but the official opening of the course would be some four months later. On Tuesday, November 1, 1977, a crowd of 2,000 people watched Jack Nicklaus, Jerry Pate and Hubert Green play the official opening day round.
