We came across Paiute Golf course a few years ago and have played here ever since with great joy. The course is beautiful and always in great shape. This year was a different experience for us.
With 54 championship holes and 360-degree views, guests can play all day and never have the same hole twice. At 2800 feet above stress level, the Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort - home of the "Vegas Trifecta" and where One-of-a-Kind now comes in Threes – is the perfect location for your Vegas golf experience, tournament, wedding, or special event.
Marrying remarkable length with raw beauty, the course is infamous for its severe undulations, alternate landing areas, and a stunning 15th hole island green. WOLF Scorecard
Las VegasPaiute is a desert course and worth the drive from downtown Las Vegas. If you want to experience a True Desert course, play Paiute, you will not be disappointed.
The newest and most difficult, also known as the signature course, leads the pack but golfers can temper the challenge with its five tee options. The most difficult layout at The Paiute also holds the record as the longest course in Nevada.
Sun Mountain CourseSun Mountain Course At just over 7100 yards from the back tees, Sun Mountain is considered the easiest of the courses onsite at Paiute. With wider fairways and forgiving greens, Sun Mountain is only protected by the unpredictable desert winds.
The course is set in the rolling terrain of the desert plain, but includes spectacular views of Mt. Charleston, a favorite mountain getaway of Las Vegas locals. The course was built in 1997 shortly before the clubhouse was finished in 1998.
The Northern Paiute people are a Numic tribe that has traditionally lived in the Great Basin region of the United States in what is now eastern California, western Nevada, and southeast Oregon. The Northern Paiutes' pre-contact lifestyle was well adapted to the harsh desert environment in which they lived.

The only signature hole is the par 3, 15th with a TPC Sawgrass style island green. I managed to succumb by hitting a skimmer across the water which didn't quite jump up high enough to get onto the green much to the delight of my playing partners.
Pete Dye is famous for Sawgrass, home of the card wrecking 17th island green. Legend has it that it was his wife who suggested surrounding it with water instead of sand and it would be interesting to see if his wife had any hand in repeating the 17th island green here at Paiute Wolf with an island green on the 15th.
Off the tee favor the left side to avoid the fairway bunkers right and then on your second shot favor the right to avoid the fairway bunkers left. It is absolutely not the 3rd hardest hole on the course. The first par 3 is long and uphill, with bunkers left and one right. The fifth is a tight dogleg right.
Description: The Wolf course at the Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort is the longest of the three courses at the 54-hole complex. Being a Pete Dye creation (in collaboration with Perry and Cynthia), it wouldn’t be complete without an island green at the 182-yard 15th. This two-tiered green is protected by 6 bunkers. The 15th is the signature hole, an island green. This one is much longer than Sawgrass and also much bigger and it is much windier. Our group, collectively, deposited 11 balls in the water hazard.
The other courses at Paiute are its respective mountains: Snow Mountain and Sun Mountain.
Long par 3 to an elevated green requires an accurate tee shot to avoid the bunkers on the left, the slope to the right and the waste area behind the green.
Reachable par 5 as long as you avoid the fairway bunker in the middle of the fairway with your tee shot. If you cannot reach the green in two, leave a full shot in for your third.
Straightaway par 5 that requires a long tee shot over the fairway bunker or a fairway wood to stay short. An accurate shot into an elevated two-tiered green is needed to avoid the drop off on the right and bunker on the left.
Risk and reward par 4 that requires a decision off the tee. You need to hit a long tee shot off the tee to the right hand side to avoid the arroyo that runs through the middle of the fairway , if you lay up you will be forced with a long second shot that needs to carry the second arroyo .
A long par 4 that is set up by keeping your drive out of the water down the right side. Your second shot will play downhill to a green that is protected by short bunkers to the right. A safe second shot is short left. Then let it feed on to the green.
Aim left on this downhill par 3 to avoid the waste bunker forty feet below the green to the right. A smart tee shot is to the left part of the green and let the slope push it back to the center.
A gambling hole creating a risk reward factor. The safe play is to the right leaving a short approach into a shallow green. But, the green is reachable with a long courageous drive over the desert.
