I could not wait to play my first Alastair Mackenzie golf course and Pasatiempo did not disappoint. The first thing that stood out is the difficulty of the par 3's, although we played in 20-30 mile an hour winds. I felt like they made you use every club in the bag ranging from 220 to 140 yards.
Pasatiempo is very walkable, having been built in the time before electric carts; for example, every tee is close to the previous green.
Initiation fees are reportedly around $300,000, while monthly dues are over $1000. Meanwhile, membership to the club is via invitation only. Therefore, perhaps the best option, short of qualifying for the PGA Tour or becoming a caddie, is to know one of the course's 1,100 members.
$575Pebble Beach green fees for a standard round are a whopping $550 per person and will increase to $575 on April 1, 2020. In addition to that initial price, it costs $45 per person to use a cart. If you choose to go the caddie route and walk, which is recommended, the caddie fee will run you another $95 per bag.
You can walk around the area by the first tee, go in the pro shop, go in the Lodge, see the 18th hole, see all the plaques of tournament winners and Bing Crosby and take lots of pictures. There are several shops and restaurants. Tourists like us who weren't playing seemed very welcomed.
