About

Formerly known as Cottonwood Golf Course it opened in 1963 as a nine-holer. Expanded to 18 holes in 2001.

Course sits on a plateau with nice views of the valley below. Some of the holes on the front nine play into canyons and gullies within the Mancos Shale giving it a unique Badlands look at times. The back nine is flat and pretty featureless and more of a lynx style feel to it. Water comes into play on a couple holes as does some forced carries.

Flat out Devil’s Thumb is a must play for anyone already living there or planning a golf trip to the western slope of Colorado. The course has several elevation changes, a few tee boxes perched high above the fairway and great practice areas prior to play. You’ll need to play#N#Devil’s Thumb at least twice to learn your lines off the tee on 5, 10, 13 and 16. Fairways have generous landings and the greens are receptive yet with just enough slope you need to in the right area of the green.
