The online Hunter Safety Course is available to anyone at any time. However, we strongly recommend that you locate a Hunter Safety Field Day in your area before you get too far into the online course. Field Days might be difficult to find in certain areas, so plan ahead! How do I pass the online Hunter Safety Course?
A. The traditional Illinois hunter safety classroom course lasts a minimum of 10 hours and is usually given over the span of a weekend or several weeknights. With the online Hunter Safety Course, you can do the bulk of the coursework from your home in an interactive and engaging online environment.
Purchase your online Connecticut hunters safety course now to start learning. Upon successful completion of the online hunter education course, you will be able to print your Certificate of Completion. This certificate is a proof that you have successfully completed the classroom portion of the hunter education.
You can now take the class portion of the Connecticut hunter education requirement online. Taking hunter education training online saves you time and allows you to complete the course when it is convenient for you.
Replacement Hunter Education Card If you have lost your hunter or bowhunter education certification card, you can print a temporary card and/or request a duplicate card to be sent by mail and print a temporary replacement card.
The Online + Field Course has two parts: 1) FREE ONLINE COURSE (TPWD or NRA) completed beforehand, and 2) Field Course - 4 hours minimum. There is also an Online-only Course that is restricted to persons that are 17 years of age or older.

California Approved An approved Bowhunter safety course is required to comply with the laws and regulations in those jurisdictions. Depending on your age, you may be required to have the California Bowhunter Education Certificate in order to legally buy a license or permit to hunt.

Hunter Safety Certificate (Hunter Education) All first-time hunters born on or after Jan. 1, 1960 are required to take and pass a hunter safety course. You will not be able to purchase a base license (other than an apprentice license) unless you can prove successful completion of a hunter safety course.
No person may hunt with a firearm within 450 feet of an occupied building, dwelling, house, residence or cabin, or any barn or other building used in connection with a farm operation, without obtaining the written permission of the owner, renter or occupant of the property. The safety zone applies to hunting only.
Hunter Ed Course meets the rigorous requirements to be an official online hunter education course for the state of Connecticut. After completing the study material, take the final exam to earn your Certificate of Completion.
The Hunter Education Card is valid for the entire lifetime and does not need to be renewed.

A Connecticut Hunter Safety Course is required for all hunters who are hunting for the first time, do not currently hold a hunting license, or do not have hunting license issued from another state or province within the last two hunting years.
Every year, a number individuals wanting to hunt wait until the last minute in September to sign up for one of these courses .They lose out because the few remaining courses get filled and no more are offered.
Crossbow hunters are required to take the hunter safety course above to get a hunting license. The minimum age to hunt with a crossbow is 14. See the DEC website for regulations concerning hunting with this hunting instrument and additional safety training requirements.
