Lofting Question

I was curious how lofting works at NU, especially since the Residential Services website only recently got updated. I’m a freshman assigned to Plex. Do we have to pay to loft the bed, or is there a simple mechanism like at state schools to shift the bed? Are ladders provided upon request or do we have to purchase them?
