Once issued, an OSHA card is valid indefinitely. However there are some exceptions. The states of Connecticut, Pennsylvania and New York require recertification every five years. At the top of the hierarchy are the trainer cards which reflect the highest level of achievement and proficiency. Trainer card. Signifies authority to teach 10- and 30-hour outreach courses and receive OSHA student completion cards.
Students are required to take a final exam, which is 30 questions randomly aggregated from the courses taken. They have 3 attempts to pass the final exam at a 70% or better passing grade. Students must complete a course evaluation survey at the end of the final exam.
An OSHA 10 card proves to employers that you completed 10 hours of OSHA-authorized training on critical workplace safety topics. Entry-level workers with this credential have industry-specific knowledge and skills that help prevent injuries and keep workplaces safe and productive.
New York operates an OSHA-approved State Plan covering only state and local government workers. Private sector employers and their workers are covered by federal OSHA.
New York State Plan Office OSHA maintains jurisdiction over all private sector workplaces; federal agencies; maritime employers (e.g., shipyards, marine terminals, and longshoring); military facilities; Indian sovereignty workplaces; and the United States Postal Service (USPS).
First Stage. By March 1, 2018, all workers must have completed at least 10 hours of OSHA training. This means workers must complete a 10-hour or 30-hour OSHA course by that date. A 100-hour, NYC DOB-approved program will also satisfy this requirement.

Your state or local government may require you to obtain your Wallet Card to work at a job site. Free courses will never fit the bill in these cases. Be sure to check with your contractor, employer or local officials to determine if you must have the authorized courses!
Authorized courses from OSHA are never free. They are provided under the direction of selected suppliers under the guidance of OSHA and are offered only as a for-profit course.
Students may also complete a Handgun Safety Course with a certified Instructor not on the Sheriff's Recommended Instructor List. Students considering this option are advised to read the letter from the Orange County Judges ( see link below).
