The Handgun Safety Course provides students of all experience levels with the most comprehensive handgun safety education. Through engaging instructional content, illustrations, animations, and videos, this course teaches students how to use handguns safely and legally.
The South Carolina Concealed Weapons Permit (SC CWP) course offered by SC Firearms Training is more than a qualification demonstration and overview of the laws governing concealed carry in the state of South Carolina, it is an in depth look into handgun handling, mechanics, fundamentals, and most importantly SAFETY, SAFETY, SAFETY.
The instructors of SC Firearms Training bring over 70 years of experience to the classroom from the fields of industrial security, state and local law enforcement, and the United States Army and Air Force. From this experience, students will learn first and foremost the safe handling procedures concerning all firearms.
More Details: This is a four-hour course for safe gun handling that is conducted in the classroom only.
South Carolina Concealed Weapons Permits are issued by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED). You can visit their Concealed Weapons Permit Program website here. As of January 14, 2015, all renewals can be made online and soon new applicants will be able to apply online.
The fee for the South Carolina CWP class is $150.00 and includes all necessary paperwork, forms, photo's and fingerprinting. In addition, you are required to bring a firearm, 50 rounds of ammunition, and lunch.
Open Carry with Training Act highlights The law: ► Allows holders of a concealed weapon permit to carry a handgun openly. ► Keeps in place requirements that a permit holder be 21 or older, take eight hours of training and pass a background check that includes fingerprinting.
Our minimum standard, to receive our endorsement, is 80%. In other words, while the State requires only 35 of 50 rounds fired impact the target, our requirement is 80% (40 of 50) minimum. Recent Update: As of September 2020, we will no longer take fingerprints for CWP Applicants.
CWPs are issued to residents, non-residents who own property in the state and military personnel stationed in South Carolina. Concealed carry permits require an eight-hour firearms training course that has been approved by the state. The minimum age to obtain a CWP is 21 years old.
McMaster Signs Open Carry & Free CWP Bill. Today, Governor Henry McMaster signed House Bill 3094 into law. This bill allows citizens who hold a Concealed Weapons Permit (CWP) to carry a handgun in the manner they choose, whether openly or concealed.
States that offer reciprocity to South Carolina concealed weapon permit are: Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Missouri, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wyoming.
According to State Law Enforcement Division, as of December 2020, there were 418, 828 active CWPs (concealed weapon permits) in the state.
Aug. 15SOUTH CAROLINA, USA — South Carolina's Open Carry with Training Act took effect Sunday, Aug. 15. It allows anyone 21 years or older with a concealed weapons permit to have their firearm in full view. South Carolinians are divided when it comes to the new law.
The proficiency test consists of shooting 50 rounds at a silhouette target at the following distances: 10 rounds each at 3, 5, 7, 10 yards and 5 rounds each at 12 and 15 yards. A passing score is hitting 35 out of 50 on the target.
Your training is good for three (3) years from the date of the training. SLED must receive the application and required documents prior to the expiration of the training class. If the application is not received within the time frame you will need to complete the training again.
21There is NO fee to the state of South Carolina for the CWP application fee effective August 15, 2021. Course attendees must be at least 18 years of age, and not be prohibited by law from possessing a firearm. (Must be 21 to submit CWP application to SLED.) The class includes Laws & Firearms Proficiency.
You must be 21 years of age and a resident of South Carolina to take this class to apply for the permit but you can be 19 yrs old and take the class because you have 3 years to submit the paperwork after you have taken the class. You must complete both the written and shooting test with passing scores to be considered for your permit.

The NRA Education & Training Division offers a variety of pistol training courses, including basics of pistol shooting, defensive training, and reloading. Get more information about the curriculum and focus of each course below.
Students spend several hours on the range and shoot approximately 100 rounds of ammunition during level one. Upon completion, students may choose to attend level two, which is an additional five hours on the range and approximately 115 rounds of ammunition learning advanced shooting skills.

The NRA BIT course is valid for a two (2) year period. If you have attended a BIT within the last two (2) years, you are considered to be a active instructor who is up-to-date with the NRA's methodology for teaching, and may take additional NRA Instructor disciplines.
They must pass their Instructor Exam with a 90% or better in order to earn their official NRA Certified Instructor rating. Approximately 8 Hours. Register for this Course.
