This Online Hunter Education Course is provided FREE to everyone by the NRA. A student age 9 through 16 years who successfully completes this course receives a “Field Course Voucher” and must attend an instructor-led Field Course to complete the training.
8-hourHunter education covers a variety of topics including firearms safety, wildlife identification, wildlife conservation and management, survival, archery, muzzleloading and hunter responsibility. It is available online, 4-hour home study, or an 8-hour traditional course.
For small game hunting, the accompanying hunter must be within sight of and able to communicate with the apprentice in a normal voice without aid. Anyone 31 or older is not required to have Hunter Education Certification to buy a hunting license.
Persons under ten (10) years of age may take the hunter education course but are not eligible to be tested for and receive hunter safety certification.
Accompanying Hunter Requirements Hunters who are not yet certified with their Hunter Education Certificate and are hunting using an apprentice-designated hunting license type must be supervised by an “accompanying hunter”. An accompanying hunter must be 18 years of age or older and possess a hunting license.
Resident landowners or tenants who hunt only on land owned or agriculturally leased by them (not including hunting leases) are exempt from the hunting license.
The use of or hunting over bait, or “baiting,” is prohibited on lands owned or managed by the Wildlife Department.
Hunting Licenses for Kids Youth deer gun licenses are required for every deer hunted. Children who are 16-17 years old need a hunting license to hunt deer, but kids who are under 16 are exempt from getting a license.
Oklahoma. 10 years of age and under must complete hunter education and be accompanied by a licensed hunter 21 or older. Persons over 10 years old may hunt alone after successfully completing hunter education and buying a license.
40 acresApplicant's land must be accessible from a public road. The minimum parcel size for hunting properties is 40 acres.
Firearms Restrictions: Unless otherwise provided by state law, no person may carry or use any firearm in conjunction with archery equipment during any archery season.
Note that Oklahoma is particularly strict on light sources for nocturnal hunting. You won't be able to use night scopes or other forms of night vision gear. Even hunting with a little help from your truck's headlights (known as 'spotlighting') is prohibited.
Six: no more than two may be antlered. All deer taken during the deer archery season count toward the hunter's combined season limit of six deer.
The NRA online hunter education course for Oklahoma is free to everyone. Upon completion of this online course, students ten years and older will be issued a hunter education certification card. Students under ten years of age are not eligible for a hunter education certification, however, they will be issued a “certificate of completion” that can be used as proof of passing the course. This certificate will only be used to meet the requirement of certain shooting sports organizations. Students who are issued this certificate, upon turning ten, will be required to complete the entire hunter education course again.
New Mexico hunters under 18 years of age may not hunt with a firearm without first obtaining a certificate proving that they have passed this, or another state’s hunter education course or are currently registered in the New Mexico Mentored-Youth (MY) Hunting Program.
New Mexico hunters over the age of 18 are not required to take hunter education, but are highly encouraged to take this free Hunter Education course. Important – Students will need a New Mexico Department of Game & Fish “Customer Identification Number” (CIN) account to complete this course.

The NRA online Hunter Education course for West Virginia is free to everyone. All persons born on or after January 1, 1975 must first successfully complete a certified hunter education course before purchasing a base hunting license, the person must present a certification card to the agent issuing the license.

The Oklahoma hunter safety course is mandatory for all applicants under the age of 31. The course teaches students important safety tools and skills. Students have the option to take the course online, at home or in person, in a classroom setting.
Not all applicants are required to complete a hunters education course to learn how to buy a license in Oklahoma. Hunters older than the age of 31 are exempt from taking the course.

Accompanying hunter must be eighteen (18) years of age or older who possesses a certificate of hunter safety or is exempt from the hunter safety certification requirements.
Accompanying hunter requirements: A person 18 or older who is licensed (unless exempt) and Hunter Education-certified (unless exempt). For big game hunting, an accompanying hunter must be within arm’s length of the apprentice hunter or close enough to take immediate control of the firearm or bow of the apprentice.

A hunter safety certificate issued by another state or country and approved by the Department of Wildlife Conservation shall be deemed to meet the requirements of this section.

No person thirty (30) years of age or younger may purchase or receive any hunting license or hunting tag unless the person possesses and can exhibit a certificate of competency and safety in the use an handling of firearms from the Department of Wildlife Conservation except those following the apprentice rules.
